Job title: UFPC National Coordinator
Job Summary:

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide the strategic direction of the organization in line with the administrative policies and guidelines, ensuring value for money, fundraising, efficiency and effectiveness. The position is responsible for providing professional and stakeholder engagements for UFPC.

The role reports directly to UFPC Chairperson.
Essential Job Functions:
The National Coordinator will be specifically responsible for the following tasks: -
Advocacy
• Examine priority issues affecting the RH/FP landscape and provide members with a platform for joint advocacy efforts to address the issues.
• Represent the RH/FP needs at different for and on behalf of the women, girls and families in need of RH/FP.
• Lobby and advocate for improvements in policies so as to enable women and families for access to RH/FP
• Advocate for better enabling environment for private sector and public-private partnerships
• Advocate for strengthening of government accountability for commitments and funding for RH/FP.
• Provide technical reference materials to members for the integration of RH/FP issues into their advocacy strategies.
Representation
• Act as representative for the UFPC, at the international and governmental level, with bilateral and multilateral donors, aid agencies and the media, as appropriate.
• Act as a clearinghouse for enquiries about the UFPC and requests for assistance from UFPC members, regions and countries, as appropriate.

Management and Leadership
• Identify, negotiate and support the introduction of new members to the UFPC in collaboration with the UFPC Chair.
• Coordinate the development of the UFPC program of work in collaboration with the UFPC Chair and members of the UFPC Steering Committee.
• Follow up on decisions taken during UFPC meetings, with assistance from the UFPC Chair and members of the UFPC Steering Committee.
• Identify prospective sources of funding, prepare fundraising proposals, and establish transparent systems of financial management for UFPC activities in collaboration with the UFPC Chair.

• Support the establishment of Task Teams and assist in formulating their scope of work and defining their specified outcome.
• Together with the UFPC Chair address UFPC membership issues.
• Monitor the implementation of the UFPC Strategy and, in cooperation with the UFPC members, review progress on strategy and program of work on a regular basis.
• Work proactively to identify important challenges and opportunities for the UFPC and facilitate efforts to move the Initiative towards its vision and goals.
• Identify opportunities for providing technical leadership through UFPC members on issues of high priority and emerging issues in family planning particularly reproductive health, maternal and neonatal health, adolescent reproductive health and the integration of STI/HIV prevention and care.
• Support the development and implementation of knowledge management and knowledge sharing activities within the partnership and their country projects and programs.
• At the country level encourage UFPC partners and affiliated partners to support the Ministry of Health, promote the sharing of information and tools and facilitate collaboration with each other and other in-country organizations and agencies working on reproductive health issues.
• Facilitate communication among UFPC members, partners and country teams and assist with the dissemination and exchange of information.
• Support the further development and expanded use of the UFPC Knowledge management platform, Communities of Practice and other knowledge management strategies.

Compliance
• In providing the Services to UFPC hereunder, the National Coordinator shall at all times observe and comply with all internal guidelines and policies of UFPC which are from time to time applicable to such services and which are notified by UFPC to the National Coordinator.
• UFPC will not hold the National Coordinator responsible for material, which is correctly executed as approved and will indemnify The National Coordinator for any loss, claim or suit filed by third parties in respect of correctly executed instructions.
• In all cases where UFPC authorizes use of images or footage from image depositories, UFPC recognizes that usage rights are granted upon such conditions as the image depository may prescribe, which UFPC agrees to adhere to including, meeting the cost of the image/footage and any cost payable to models appearing in the images/footage in respect of whom the image depository has not obtained appropriate Model Releases or otherwise acquired usage rights.
• Approval of quotations by UFPC in writing will be sufficient authority to the National Coordinator to commence production of the material to which such quotations relate.

Qualifications and Training (essential/ desirable)
• Minimum of a University Degree in the relevant discipline
• Further related training (s) will be an added advantage.
• 3-5 years’ experience working in the same field, at managerial level.
Experience and Personal Attributes.
• Have experience of developing and successfully implementing a strategy well aligned with organisational objectives.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience of global and country FP Trends and NGO governing laws.
• Understanding of the complexities of FP and SHR work in our environment and demonstrable ability to push implementation and good practice.
• Significant experience of working with senior partners, donors and different stakeholders.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and, the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrates strong management and leadership skills
• Thinking creatively and outside of the box so that ideas generated create a positive
• Being responsive to changing priorities and demands
• Planning, prioritizing and organising work to ensure work is accurate and deadlines are met
• Taking responsibility for appropriate decisions that you make, and the actions and behaviour you demonstrate.
• Openness to embracing change within the organisation and being able to adjust plans/activities accordingly
• Motivation towards achieving quality results to maximise potential
• A Team Player; working as part of a team by being supportive, flexible and showing respect for each other.
