Established by African States with technical and financial support from the World Bank and more recently, the African Development Bank, the African Trade Insurance Agency (ATI) is an African multilateral financial institution. The company aims to create a business environment that is attractive for investors and companies working in Africa. To this end, ATI provides insurance products that protect companies and investors against credit and investment risks. ATI's mandate is to help attract investments and facilitates trade both within and outside of Africa. ATI has grown exponentially over the last ten years and it is now one of the highest rated institutions in Africa with an S&P ‘A’ rating.
ATI currently operates in 13 African countries with a head office in Nairobi and local presence in Uganda, Tanzania and Zambia. With plans to expand aggressively into West Africa, and to strengthen its expertise in energy sector underwriting, ATI has two unique job opportunities for Underwriters in which one role will be linked to a new facility on renewable energy initiated by ATI and KfW and funded by the German Development Cooperation.
Main Job Tasks & Responsibilities
The Underwriters will be responsible for developing and implementing solutions for the protection of companies, banks and other business interests that have transactions exposed to credit or political risks. He/she will help to develop the existing range of products and promote them with potential clients and stakeholders. Starting from a sound understanding of the transactions that are proposed, he/she will develop solutions that meet both the clients‘ needs and ATI’s guidelines. He/she will negotiate the solutions with all parties involved, prepare the contractual documents and manage the client relationship.

He or She will either be based in Nairobi at ATI’s head office or one of the field offices.
Besides the tax exempt basic salary to be paid in USD, the position comes with diplomatic immunities and privileges as well as other benefits provided by leading multilateral organizations.
