GENERAL OVERVIEW
The successful candidate should be an innovative, visionary leader with the capacity to build a dynamic management team. In particular the Vice Chancellor will be a widely experienced individual with wide knowledge of national, regional and international status and trends of higher education, with capacity to execute a strategic change program to ensure the sustainability of the University.

KEY FUNCTIONS
The key functions of the Vice Chancellor shall be to:

• Spearhead the development and review of the University’s Strategic plan designed to achieve academic and professional excellence; 
• Promote an understanding of the vision and mission of the University; 
• Initiate and co-ordinates the development and review of policies, plans and programs of the University in line with the University strategic Plan; 
• Mobilize and solicits for resources necessary for the implementation of the University plans and programs; 
• Present University Management’s policy initiatives, programs, activities and recommendations to the University Council for consideration; 
• Be responsible to the University Council for the general conduct and discipline of staff and students. 

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Have a PhD from a recognized University. 
• At least Associate professor in a reputable University 
• Be an accomplished scholar with a proven track record of supervising and mentoring masters and Ph.D. students 
• Be an active leader who possesses entrepreneurial spirit and managerial excellence regarding all aspects of University operations including selection and retention of faculty and staff for institutional development and student services 
• Have a proven track record of research and publications in peer reviewed journals and/ or monographs and books 
• Academic and Senior Administrative Managerial Experience of at least Five years. 
• Be a highly motivated visionary academic leader with extensive professional experience of strategic planning, building partnerships and leading academic operations.
