JOB DETAILS:

Our client in the Energy Sector seeks to recruit a suitably qualified and results-oriented individual for the vacancy above.
As an electricity distributor, UMEME is licensed to distribute and supply electricity to customers. This mandate involves; operation, maintenance and upgrade of electricity distribution infrastructure, electricity retail and provision of related services. The sector is regulated by the Electricity Regulatory Authority, whose mandate includes setting operating standards and appropriate end-user tariffs.

Job Purpose:
To implement all key aspects of way leave acquisition and registration of the transmission and distribution lines, substations servitudes and other corporation properties to meet statutory requirements to allow growth in the distribution of power throughout the country and the expansion of the corporation's operations.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Efficient turnaround time in the processing of way leave application forms
2. Availability of up-to-date way leaves database
3. Adherence to UMEME procedures and regulatory requirements
4. Administers and supervises the way leaves sections so as to ensure proper utilisation of all allocated resources.
5. Liaises with all interested and affected parties such as landowners and other land authorities on behalf of the organization in the acquisition and registration of servitudes to avoid delays in the implementation of projects.
6. Participates in the land assessment committees, negotiates with freehold landowners, and reviews the settlement of all compensation claims to ensure that the organization gets value for its investments.
7. Prepares way leaves registration systems and databases to enable easy cross-referencing and retrieval of information.
8. Participates and advises the selection and alignment of transmission and distribution land routes together with the appointed consultants thus ensuring optimal and cost effective line routing.
9. Checks new transmission and distribution and substation installations for compliance with the approved way leave and other statutory requirements.
10. Undertakes any such other related duties as directed by the supervisor

Academic Qualifications:
Diploma in Land Management, Geomatics or Equivalent

Experience:
At least three (3) years in land acquisition-related field such as land survey, estate-planning fields with a knowledge of regulations relating to the use and acquisition of land and title deeds.
