JOB DETAILS:
Weld Inspector Piping / Structural (Tanks)
• Establish and implement Piping QC quality requirements. Including but not limited to: confirmation that suitable equipment is calibrated and in use, suitable materials and consumables are stored, issued, handled and used appropriately and required HSE requirements are met. Responsible for development and acceptance of piping ITPs, material verification and traceability, piping/structural edge prep, fit-up and alignment, installation of pipework/supports/structural steel, cleanliness checks and verification of closure of punch Items.
• Also responsible for WPS/WPQR verification, ensuring welding is carried out by qualified welders, correct application of PWHT and visual and NDE completed weld acceptance.
• Witness and interpretation of PQR, WPQR testing and results, understanding of the limitations and interpretation of different NDE and destructive testing techniques and mechanisms.
• Ensure full traceability of all materials and that required weld and material traceability information is updated in the weld tracking log and database.
• Support in development, responsible for review and implementation of Piping/Structural Quality Plans & Inspection Test Plans (ITPs).
• Manage Piping/Structural welding QC activities during the construction phase.
• Review and approval of subcontractor proposals, subcontractor WPS, Piping/Structural QC ITPs and procedures.
• Determine and administer Piping/Structural welding QC surveillances and monitor implementation.
• Coordinate with Client Piping/Structural QC for efficient attendance and execution of inspection and testing activities.
• Ensure all the requirements of Piping/Structural/Welding Specifications, Project Procedures and Drawings are followed.
• Perform, supervise, monitor and witness critical inspection & test activities at site in accordance with the ITPs.
• Exercise a proactive approach in the prevention of any potential issues by interfacing with Construction, Field Engineering, Subcontractors and Client as required.
• Ensure completeness and endorsement of quality related
• records/documentation, maintenance and storage and that deliverables are progressively compiled, finalised and included into the final project handover records.
• Ensure Quality Records signed-off by Client (where required) prior to handing them over for certification.
• Raising, follow-up and verification of closeout of punch items.
• Provide regular reports on quality progress, issues, risks and opportunities to Site Quality Team
• Perform 1st and 2nd party audits as required as the QC subject matter expert for Piping.
• Raise non-conformance reports and ensure resolution of any
• non-conforming practices or materials/products and actively execute corrective and preventative actions
• Interface with Certifying Authority and other third parties to ensure timely certification and hand over of completed work
Basic Qualifications
• College/university graduate and/or higher education with minimum 10+ years' experience in Piping Engineering/Construction and QA/QC function/inspections in Oil and Gas industry.
• Minimum CSWIP 3.1 or 3.2 CWI or AWS CWI/SCWI, familiarity with ASME requirements.
• Additional: PCN or CSWIP Level II (UT, RT, PT, MT)
• API 650 Tank fabrication experience
• Familiar with site quality control surveillance schemes.
• FO. Experience in Piping/Structural QC activities
• Major fabrication/construction site experience. Demonstratable similar scope experience if not energy industry related.
• Familiar with construction standards and code of practices
• Experience in coordination of third party authorities and associated regulatory requirements.
• Preferred audit experience to ISO9001:2015 and/or construction inspection qualifications.
• Computer skills-MS Office Suite
• Piping Engineering/Construction and QA/QC function/inspections in international oil and Gas construction projects.
