JOB DETAILS:
Reports To: Workshop Manager
Supervises: Technicians & Yard Martial
Works closely with: External: Contractors/Suppliers
Internal: Mechanics, Head of Departments
Location: Ntinda, Kampala - Uganda with travel to the field as required
Main Purpose/Mission of the job
The Workshop Foreman has the responsibility of ensuring that the inspections, audits, service or repairs performed on every vehicle satisfy the reason(s) the vehicle was brought in to the workshop and that the services were completed in a quality and cost-effective manner
Key duties
• Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the function and operation of the various mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems
• Inspect the quality of repairs performed including, but not limited to:
i. Vehicles on which major repairs were performed
ii. Vehicles with a high comeback risk
iii. All comeback vehicles
iv. Other vehicles specifically identified by management
v. Managing the remedial process for the vehicle failing the quality control inspection
vi. Provide the servicing mechanic an accurate description of the reason(s) for failure
• Maintain a record of the vehicles inspected and the result of those inspections
• Carry out scheduled vehicle audits
• Ensure that procured parts are of the correct quality
• Advise management regarding Technician job performance, training needs and other specific areas as requested by management
• On a monthly basis, review each departments’ technician performance versus objectives and specifically determine the reasons for both good and bad performance
• Consult with departmental technicians who fail to meet their objectives and assist them in creating and implementing plans for improvement
• Submit a detailed quality control report to the workshop manager to identify possible trends and mitigation requirements.
• To ensure the department SOP are adhered to at all times
• Develop continuous improvement program to drive efficiency and cost-reduction in the fleet
• Identify department training needs and coordinate with the workshop manager to implement
• Ensure the workshop and workshop equipment is kept to a high standard and cleanliness at all times.
Key Performance Indicators
1. 5% Workshop visit between service intervals
2. 100% Vehicle inspection monthly
3. 100% vehicle audit quarterly
4. Bi annual Technicians appraisal
Register 0% non-conformities on HSE requirements
