Job summary
Acropolis Interiors is a furniture and interior design company located in Kampala, Uganda. We are seeking for a skilled and organized Workshop Manager to oversee all aspects of our manufacturing and production process. As the Workshop Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our workshop, managing a dedicated team, optimizing raw material usage, and coordinating with other departments to meet customer demands effectively.

DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILTIES
1. Lead and supervise the workshop team, including artisans, craftsmen, and technicians, to ensure efficient and high-quality production of furniture and interior design elements.
2. Monitor the workshop's daily activities and provide guidance and support to the team to meet production targets and deadlines.
3. Develop, oversee and manage the workshop budget, ensuring cost-effective production without compromising on product quality.
4. Identify areas for process optimization and implement measures to enhance workflow efficiency, reduce production lead times, and minimize operational costs.
5. Manage and optimize the stock of raw materials, ensuring timely procurement to meet production demands while minimizing inventory costs.
6. Develop and implement efficient production schedules, allocating resources effectively to complete orders on time and in line with customer requirements.
7. Compile key information on material usage, production output, and resource allocation to generate regular reports for management analysis and decisionmaking.
8. Collaborate closely with the Sales Team to coordinate production timelines, prioritize orders, and address any potential delays or challenges.
9. Conduct regular quality checks and inspections to maintain the highest standards of craftsmanship and product quality.
10. Coordinate and schedule regular maintenance and repair of workshop machinery and equipment to ensure their proper functioning and longevity.
11. Ensure that the workshop operates in compliance with all health and safety regulations, conducting regular safety audits and implementingcorrective actions as needed.
12. Collaborate with the Procurement Team to maintain positive relationships with suppliers,negotiate pricing, and ensure timely delivery of raw materials.
13. Collaborate with the Interior Design and Sales Teams to ensure a seamless transition from design concepts to production, providing insights on technical feasibility and material options.
14. Conduct performance evaluations for workshop staff, providing feedback, identifying areas for improvement, and recognizing exceptional performance.
15. Implement inventory management software to track raw material stocks, monitor usage trends, and optimize inventory levels

REQUIREMENTS
a. A bachelors degree or diploma in relevant field or any other related course.
b. Proven experience of 2-3 years in management preferably in furniture and interior design setting.
c. Deep knowledge of production management
d. Understanding of quality standards and health & safety regulations
e. Knowledge of performance evaluation and budgeting concepts
f. Experience in reporting on key production metrics
g. Proficient in MS Office and relevant software
h. Outstanding communication ability
i. Excellent organizational and leaderships skills
j. Attention to detail
k. Strong decision-making skills and a results-driven approach
l. Knowledge about design software, product marketing and project management
