Duties & Responsibilities
Identification and Communication

• Work with the Special Education Coordinator to assess all recommended and referred learners to identify special education needs; participate in the tracking and reporting of identified pupils.
• Collaborate with the Special Education Coordinator to develop and implement individualized plans for each identified learner; continually assess performance, track progress, and update plans as necessary.
• Work with the Special Education Coordinator, Head Teacher, Deputy Head Teachers, and Scholarship Director to inform parents/guardians on pupils’ needs and progress.
• Support parents/guardians, teachers, and pupils to understand the God-given value of pupils with special education needs; give parents/guardians tools for supporting pupils at home.

Teaching Responsibilities

• Teach your subject(s) to groups of pupils at TAS, integrating subjects as well as Biblical truths by making connections between content, ideas, and the common use of the tools of learning.
• Work with colleagues to formulate plans which have coherence and relevance to the needs of the individual pupils and to the aims and objectives of TAS.
• Work with colleagues to ensure that all lessons are planned with clear aims and objectives, and are differentiated and delivered in line with the pupils’ individualized plans.
• Check that all subject matter is effectively communicated and understood by all groups of pupils.
• Plan one-on-one or small group lessons to provide intensive instruction on identified needs.
• Take into account the differing abilities of pupils and differentiate work accordingly.
• Encourage all pupils to be actively engaged in their own learning and in reviewing their progress against targets.
• Ensure that all experiments and activities are safe and contribute directly to the educational objectives.
• Work with therapists to help support pupils in accomplishing therapy treatment plans.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Personal

Teaching Staff
• Trains, orients, and supervises all teaching staff and assistants.
• Ensures all teachers stay updated with attendance, academics, and discipline on PowerSchool
• Communicates with the Head Teacher regarding academic, curricular, and personnel issues.
• Assists Head Teacher in conducting regular faculty meetings.
• Conducts regular classroom observations.
• Ensures all faculty receive ongoing in-service training (African, Christian, Classical, Cross-cultural, and Pedagogical).
• Makes extracurricular assignments for teaching staff and assistants (preps, detention, etc.).
• Works closely with the Department Heads to provide regular formal and informal evaluations for teaching staff and assistants. Information and feedback from the evaluations should then be shared with the Head Teacher.

Curriculum
• Assists teachers to create all curriculum needed for the school (final approval by the Head Teacher).
• Collaborates with the Head Teacher to monitor the implementation of the curriculum, researching and recommending improvements and changes, and documenting curriculum guides and any accreditation requirements.
• Assists Department Heads with textbooks and supply purchasing (final approval by Head Teacher).
• Coordinates the administration of annual achievement testing.
• Coordinates with Learning Specialists to ensure teachers are tailoring instructional interventions for any student with specific needs.

Pupils
• Evaluates admission screening and school records to determine the appropriateness of enrolling learners.
• Establishes and maintains high standards of learner academic conduct.
• Coordinates scheduling of field trips
• Monitors progress of each learner. Interacts regularly with class teachers and HODs regarding each student.
• Prepares academic schedules.

Qualifications

• A minimum qualification of a degree in Education from a recognized institute of higher education
• Five (5) years’ working experience at a managerial level preferably in a similar organisational setting

Title: Sub-Programme Officer - Education, Sports and Skills Development

Purpose of the Job:
To coordinate activities under the Education, Sports and Skills Development Sub Programme.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The main responsibilities and duties of the Programme Officer:
• Act as a technical link between the Programme Secretariat and the various Agencies and Institutions under the Education, Sports and Skills Development Sub-Programme
• Monitor the Education Sports and Skills Development work plans, budgets and expenditures and contribute to preparation of reports.
•Schedule and organize meetings for the Education, Sports and Skills Development Sub Programme
•Provide technical knowledge to support the various Agencies and Institutions under the Education, Sports and Skills Development Sub-Programme
•Prepare work plans (annual and quarterly) and reports (progress, quarterly and annual) related to the sub programme activities
•Support preparation of the budget framework paper for the Education, Sports and Skills Development Sub-Programme a) Participate in quality assurance of Ministerial Policy statements for the Education, Sports and Skills Development sub-programme.
• Coordinate the Education, Sports and Skills Development Sub programme Review activities
•Perform any other duties as assigned from time to time.

Qualifications and Experience:
Qualifications:

• A Masters' Degree in either Project Planning and Management or Business Administration, or Economics or Education or Health, or Gender Studies, or Development Studies from a recognized Institution/ University.
• An Honours Degree in either Economics, Business Administration, Social Sciences or any humanity from a recognised University
• Professional qualification in Project Planning and Management

Experience:
• At least six (6) years working experience in a reputable organization three of which should have been in relevant fields of education sports or skills development, at a senior level
• Demonstrated competence in the fields of Planning, Resource Mobilisation, Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation.
