Graphic Designer to Design a Gender Responsive Pedagogy Curriculum for Teachers in Moyo and Obongi Districts of West Nile, UgandaAga Khan Foundation
The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) is an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), a group of private, non-denominational development agencies that share a mission to improve the living conditions and opportunities of marginalized communities in target countries across Africa and Asia. Background
AKF, in partnership with World University Services Canada (WUSC), has been delivering the Adolescent Girls’ Education in Crisis Initiative (AGENCI), a four-year project focused on enabling adolescent girls and young women in Moyo and Obongi to pursue diverse educational and learning pathways. Critical to achieving this is working with teachers to shift harmful attitudinal and socio-cultural barriers that inhibit or prohibit Adolescent Girls and Female Youth (AGFY) from accessing gender equitable, quality education (including, barriers, such as SGBV and gender inequality). To combat these harmful cultural norms and beliefs, AGENCI implements both formal and non-formal education interventions to support teacher professional development. Through this lens, AGENCI is seeking a Graphic Designer to design our new Gender Responsive Pedagogy (GRP) Curriculum.
AKF is looking for a Graphic Designer that has experience developing and executing curriculum designs, particularly, through the lens of a teacher. It is expected for the Graphic Designer to work closely with the AKF team and other key stakeholders, as required.
The GRP Curriculum is approximately 60 pages/A4 (Already developed, ) and contains three modules. Each module will need to be designed using pre-approved content and delivered in three separate PDFs. The end user of the modules are Tutors and Teachers
Scope of Work
The Graphic Designer will be expected to:
• Prepare a sample design concept, including graphics, illustrations, comics, color palette, fonts among others for review and approval (Real photos of teachers and learners will not be used)
• Upon approval, submit a first draft of the three designed modules for feedback
• Incorporate feedback into the modules’ final design
• Deliver designed modules
Expected Qualifications and Experience
• Prior work experience in designing learning modules for teachers and other education improvement programs
• Sample designs of previous work undertaken
• Evidence of delivering high-quality designs
• Ability to deliver on time

Brief description of WFP in Uganda
WFP delivers food assistance in emergencies and work with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. WFP provides life-saving food assistance and livelihood opportunities to refugees in Uganda. In addition, WFP assists the most vulnerable people in Uganda with food and nutrition assistance. Finally, WFP works with smallholder farmers and links them to markets.
As Uganda strives to achieve Zero Hunger by 2030 and become a middle-income country by 2040, WFP is also assessing its relevance and repositioning its role in Uganda.
Organizational Context
These jobs are found in Country Offices (COs), Regional Bureaux (RBs), and Headquarters (HQ). The Job holders report to a Head of the Unit, Chief, or Information Technology Officer, or the designate.
At this level, work is carried out under the direct supervision of a more senior staff. Job holders work in a team and are expected to produce organised and accurate technical work.
Job Purpose
To deliver standard software and hardware support services, as well as monitoring and maintaining a wide range of information sources, to contribute to the effective delivery of IT services during both food and cash distributions.
Key Accountabilities (1/2)
1. Carry-out system and Equipment maintenance tasks, such as back-up system data and system protection, to ensure they are running effective and enable easy and efficient use.
2. Undertake basic monitoring and troubleshooting of server system to ensure a consistent delivery of IT services to staff.
3. Support biometric identification and verification of refugee beneficiaries during food distribution in line with WFP standard GDT tool by scanning the Ration Card of the beneficiaries to ascertain their eligibility to collect food.
4. Respond to basic queries about technology and systems to support the correct application of technology.
5. Receive and inspect all incoming assets and report discrepancies in IT materials inventory to senior colleagues to ensure materials are effectively tracked.
6. Perform basic beta testing and support the roll out of new versions of centrally supported software to ensure software is operational for WFP staff.
7. Ensure information is up to date and accurate within inventories, databases, and archives to support senior officers in managing these systems.
Education Qualifications:
Minimum of Degree in any IT related discipline
Working Experience:
Minimum of 4 years experience supporting IT applications, LANs and WANs; Previous experience in supporting small IT offices and IT personnel will be an added advantage; . Professional experience in biometric food assistance distribution and community engagement in refugee operation.
Language: Fluency in English and any or more of the following languages: Kakwa, Lugbara, Aringa, Alur Madi, Luo, Acholi is an added advantage.
