I&M Bank Uganda is a commercial bank headquartered at Kampala Road plot 6/6A with a growing regional presence. We are seeking to recruit a competent and highly motivated individual with extensive experience and abilities to support business growth in the following position:

Job purpose:
• The primary objective of this role is to maximize the bank’s earnings through the sale of trade and cash management solutions to targeted I &M bank clients accomplished by supporting growth of new and existing trade and cash clients.
• To drive and coordinate delivery of trade and cash management products aligned to the Commercial banking customer value propositions.
• To ensure sustainable trade and cash product management and/or Trade and cash income streams. This role must support the establishment of strong long term client relationships in conjunction with Chief Business Officer, Segment Heads and Relationship managers within the bank.

Key responsibilities:

• Drive and oversee trade finance business and strategy across the bank. Achieve sales performance targets as specified and agreed within annual objectives
• Proactively support Relationship Managers to manage relationships of existing and agreed target clients in order to develop structure and review proposals that meet customer requirements.
• Identify product gaps or new product opportunities to influence the development of key new product service initiatives and more cost-effective delivery channels. Structure compelling solution proposals and input to credit applications in conjunction with product and relationship teams, aligned to strategy and mitigating associated transactional risks.
• Participate in account/ customer relationship planning to ensure full solution delivery to meet customer needs.
• Support call reports to summarize discussions, opportunities and agreed actions related to all client sales calls.
• Uncover client dissatisfaction with current situation in areas where I&M can provide alternative solutions.
• Update sales pipeline on a weekly basis as new business opportunities are identified and existing transactions are moved forward. Develop a daily salesforce mechanism and ensure efficient pipeline management
• Influence relative importance of client decision criteria to maximize fit of I&M proposed solutions
• Structure compelling solution proposals to demonstrate a thorough understanding of each client’s requirements and objectives. Increase cross sale per client.
• Monitor progress of all implementations and provide appropriate support to ensure all client expectations are met or exceeded.
• Develop links with other related companies and product arears to maximize cross selling opportunities.
• Attend selected seminars and conferences to promote trade and cash solutions to targeted clients and prospects.
• Coach and upskill team members in regard to trade and cash products as opportunities present themselves.
• Ensure all business and transactional activity comply fully with banks policies.
• Take personal responsibility to ensure that all training as laid down by the bank standard guidelines is adhered to and completed within the stated timelines.

Requirements:
Minimum Education Qualification:
• University Degree preferably in Economics, Sales or Business Management.
• Professional banking and Accounting qualification will give an added advantage

Work Experience:
• Minimum of 4 years banking experience with not less than 3years in core trade and cash sales in banking industry

• Proven record of technical understanding of Trade, cash and supply chain products
• Ability to keep abreast of changes in the market, customer requirements and responses to identify new business opportunities

JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose:
Review and verify operational disbursement requests and documentation in regional hub in coordination with project management unit or equivalent agency. Determine whether the disbursement request should be approved, reduced or rejected in accordance with Bank’s policies and procedures. Allocate disbursement commitments to relevant contract and ensure timely completion of the disbursement. Maintain accurate and complete records relating to regional hub’s project accounting activities, coordinate with respective parties for resolution of disbursement related problems. Provide support to negotiations, mission preparation, and disbursement workshops.

Key Accountabilities (not exhaustive list):
Dues and Disbursement Management
• Process disbursement requests from project management unit or equivalent agency in the regional hub to verify and determine the appropriateness of requests and supporting documents for the disbursement in accordance with Bank’s policies and procedures
• Liaise with regional hub management and executing agencies and borrowers, in the resolution of disbursement related problems
• Draft clear and concise correspondence to project management unit or operational staff regarding disbursement related issues
• Monitor utilization of Special Accounts, ensuring that the funds are properly accounted for and used in accordance with Bank procedures
• Participate in project missions to verify use of project finances and resolve disbursement issues
• Participate in technical discussions and new project negotiations to ensure that disbursement arrangements are compliant with Bank’s disbursement policies
• Prepare periodic reports on disbursement activities and disbursement projections for the regional hub for management
• Maintain reliable and timely financial records for project accounting and reporting on the performance of the portfolio with special focus on approval, disbursements, cancellations and recoveries in the regional hub
• Participate in reconciliation of project balances and issuance of project statements to Member Countries (i.e. reconciling borrowers’ and the bank’s records)
• Prepare and update repayment schedules, prepare billing statements and track the repayment of amounts due and overdue in the regional hub
Financial Analysis
• Perform specific analyses of financial or operating data and submit recommendations for consideration of management
• Analyze the current projects status and identify any problem areas that warrant attention of the concerned departments
• Participate in standard and ad hoc analyses to meet variety of management objectives
Policies, Processes & Procedures
• Participate in drafting policies and procedures as per management instructions
• Provide guidance on interpretation of IDB policies and procedures, and regulations applicable to operations financing in regional hub
• Analyze and identify gaps and suggest improvements to policies or procedures for more effective operations
Reporting & Communication
• Prepare ad-hoc reports as and when required by management

Job Requirements:
Academic qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or related field is required
• CPA, ACCA, CMA or an equivalent certification is preferred

Languages
• English (mandatory)

Minimum number of years and nature of experience
• 5 years of relevant experience in finance and accounting
• ERP, procurement and audit experience is preferred
