Duty station: Buliisa/ Pakwach

Key role:
The Community Liaison officer will work extensively with community groups and the community at large, the local leadership and other stakeholders in the project implementation area to ensure effective communication that will foster positive relationships.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support the supervisor with the formulation of a community liaison strategy and implementation
• Manage public relations within the community of implementation
• Educate stakeholders such as community members and local leadership about the project objectives
• Organize and attend community meetings when required and ensure all relevant community stakeholders are kept informed about the progress Keep the project team and stakeholders aware of the community affairs and dynamics.
• Assist with project reporting and case study development
• Complete the necessary administrative tasks related to implementation of the project,
• Must ensure that all project activities comply with the organisation's policies
• Ensure the visibility of Safe Way Right Way and Total Energies' Activities Any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Professional Qualifications:

• A diploma or higher in Social Work, Development studies or related studies
• Atleast 3 years' experience in a similar position
• Preference for a resident in good standing of Buliisa, Pakwach, Kikuube Hoima, Masindi, Nwoya with knowledge of the surrounding areas and communities around the project area
• Ability to assist in communications or discussions effectively and deal with feedback and/or grievances (if any) in a way that encourages win- win solutions for the parties involved;
• Must be fully proficient in English, and either Runyoro, Lugungu, or Alur (verbal and written communication);
• Good mobilization skills and ability to maintain good relations with stakeholders
• Experience in reporting and case study writing

JOB DETAILS:

Key role:
The Sociologist will provide technical support in the design and implementation and monitoring of Safe Way Right Way Road Safety interventions in the Albertine region taking into account community attitudes and cultural aspects.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Support the planning and coordination of all project interventions in the Albertine region.
• Plan and conduct research to develop and test theories about the attitudes, values, and behaviours of communities, using observation, interviews, and review of documents
• Develop and strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders - community groups, leaders and other partners in the community, local government and civil society.
• Prepare regular reports, articles, or presentations as per the project requirements
• Identify existing and emerging social problems that relate to or affect road safety and recommend solutions.
• Coordinate with local leadership to promote government policies that relate to safety for all road users
• Promote the visibility of Safe Way Right Way and Total Energies' activities in the region
• Provide technical advice on monitoring and evaluation of the project activities on the basis of applied research, including community-based monitoring.
• Support the development, production and distribution of culturally relevant IEC materials
• Support the development, production and distribution of culturally relevant IEC materials
• Support capacity building in participatory approaches and behaviour change communication
• Liaise and coordinate with service providers that support project implementation.

Professional Qualifications:

• A degree in sociology or a similar field is preferred. Atleast 5 years or more of experience in a similar position. Strong research and written skills.

Overarching objective:

The Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Officer is responsible for ensuring that the organisation remains ISO 45001: 2018 complaint. They ensure that the employees work in safe environment ie identify hazards, assess risks, implement solutions to prevent injuries and investigate accidents and incidents at the workplace.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Ensuring that employees have proper safety training and are aware of hazards in their work environment
• Carry out and coordinate regular HSE audits and management reviews as per the ISO 45001: 2018
• Performing inspections of work sites to ensure compliance with safety regulations
• Informing workers of potential hazards and implementing measures to mitigate risks
• Conducting investigations into accidents to identify the causes and contributing factors
• Writing reports detailing accident investigations and conclusions in order to inform future safety measures
• Consulting with management to develop policies and procedures for safety programs
• Preparing reports about safety conditions at a workplace or industry sector
• Monitoring compliance with safety regulations and providing training on safe work practices to employees
• Recording injuries or illnesses that occur at work in order to identify potential hazards or patterns of unsafe behavior
• The HSE Officer will be expected to perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
• The HSE Officer will be required to work two days a week


Requirements:

• A Diploma in a health, safety, environmental
• 5 years' experience in health, safety and environment work.
• HSE Qualification such as NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
• In depth knowledge of legislation (e.g. OSHA/EPA) and procedures
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Good organization skills
• Good analytical skills and the ability to think critically
• Leadership skills

Overarching objective:
The M&E Officer will be responsible for overall M&E and learning needs of the Organisation and will come up with findings based on real data to show performance of the different projects. The Officer, working with the team and partners will ensure the strengthening of the Organisation's M&E functions. The officer will play a vital role in promoting of key learnings for the improvement of the Organisations performance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop a Monitoring and Evaluation plan of the projects consulting with the team and partners
• Coordinate with partners for collecting data against agreed indicators Ensure quality of data collected by partners
• Provide feedback to partners and programme teams on projects' performance based on monitoring data findings
• Provide support in building capacity of staff and partners in Planning. Monitoring and Evaluation
• Spearhead the designing, coordinating and conducting project evaluations (mid-term and end-line)
• Conduct Post Implementation Monitoring Survey
• Develop regular reports as agreed on with supervisor
• Share learning from M&E process with the wider team
• Support partners in improving learning and sharing mechanisms in their projects
• Participate actively in the programme planning process and budgeting of the programme quality and fundraising unit
• The M&E Officer will be expected to perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor


Requirements:

• A degree in Monitoring and Evaluation or any social or natural science discipline
• 5 years experience with Knowledge and understanding of project monitoring and evaluation

UNNGOF is seeking to recruit a competent and committed individual to fill the position of Senior Programme Associate - Policy, Governance & Civic Engagement.

Summary Position Description
The Senior Programme Associate is familiar with current and emerging interventions, trends, and practice in the fields of governance, policy and civic space. The position holder understands and guides how key stakeholders can be engaged to achieve policy advocacy goals, governance reforms and improvements in civic space. He/she provides input into the strategic direction of key UNNGOF programmes and will be responsible for programme design and development; implementation; and partner and or stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities
• Conduct research, develop and execute advocacy strategies to influence governance and public policy processes.
• Ensure that UNNGOF programming reflects an up- to-date understanding of local and national contexts, needs and gaps, and who does what and where. This includes helping to identify and prioritize emergent policy and governance issues to address.
• Coordinate and lead the drafting of analysis and responses to a wide range of issues and topics.
• Participate in the development of annual work plans and reports; and ensures delivery of set targets and objectives.
• Use expert knowledge in governance and policy to help conceptualize, design and lead the project approach and interventions in accordance with overall goals of the team and UNNGOF.
• Build and nurture networks, coalitions, and relationships with relevant stakeholders.
• Review, in liaison with the Senior Associate - Finance, the project expenditure for proper coding, budgetary verification and document necessary remedial actions.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications
• A Master's Degree in the areas of governance, public policy, development, economics, law, human rights, social sciences or any other related fields from a recognized institution.
• A minimum of 5 years of similar work experience; three of which must have been at coordination/ managerial level in a reputable organisation. Previous experience working with Policy, Advocacy and Governance interventions.
• Demonstrable excellent writing and analytical skills Training in human rights-based approaches and project planning and management is an added advantage.
