JOB DETAILS:
Redeem's mission is to protect widows and orphans from violent abuse and exploitation by:
• Awakening the world to the need to defend the orphan and the widow in the twenty-first century; Assembling the resources needed to protect the world's most vulnerable widows and orphans;
• Assisting law enforcement in real cases that restore victims and restrain their abusers; and
• Amplifying law enforcement protection through community engagement and capacity building.
We are currently implementing a program in Uganda to protect widows and orphans from the devastation of predatory eviction with plans to expand our defense of the vulnerable into other countries in the future.
Redeem is committed to protecting its personnel from injury and harm and to protecting its property from damage or loss. As Redeem's Security Manager, you will be responsible for leading Redeem's efforts to mitigate the risk to persons and property - including transportation-related risks - that are inherent in the work of protecting the widow and the orphan. While secondary to safety, security and transportation responsibilities, the ideal candidate will also support other staff members in their use of Redeem's information technology applications.
Specific responsibilities include:
Safety and Security
• Ensuring the safety and security of Redeem staff members, clients, partners and property;
• Advising Redeem's leadership on potential safety and security risks, including but not limited to abuser retaliation, common crime, disease, political unrest, auto or other accidents and environmental hazards;
• Developing Redeem's safety and security policies, guidance, standard operating procedures and trainings;
• Evaluating, monitoring and maintaining the safety and security of Redeem's offices and operations;
• Overseeing Redeem's reporting and documentation of safety and security risks, incidents and responses; Liaising with law enforcement and contracted security personnel in the provision of security services;
• Providing overflow security support for events and operations conducted by Redeem's casework teams;
• Communicating with team members with regard to safety and security risks, incidents and responses; and
• Serving as a technical consultant, situational advisor and professional mentor to Redeem's Field Specialists.

Transportation
• Ensuring that Redeem staff have the transportation resources necessary to safely achieve Redeem's mission;
• Advising Redeem's leadership on the most effective, efficient and risk mitigating transportation strategies;
• Developing Redeem's transportation policies, guidance, standard operating procedures and trainings;
• Communicating with team members regarding travel plans, resources, safety and other transport issues; ·
• Identifying, vetting, hiring and assigning leased vehicles for use by the National Team and its visitors; and
• Supporting Field Specialists in identifying, vetting and contracting with local transportation providers.
Technology
• Providing basic IT help desk support to Redeem staff by troubleshooting problems and answering questions;
• Training Redeem staff members on the use of the organization's technology systems and applications; and
• Advising Redeem's leadership on the selection, implementation and integration of technology solutions.
Miscellaneous
• Communicating with donors, supporters, media and other outside parties about Redeem's work;
• Contributing to the review and design of organizational systems, guidelines and policies;
• Participating in Redeem's professional development and spiritual formation activities;
• Supporting other teams within Redeem in the achievement of their objectives;
• Performing clerical duties (photocopying, filing, posting, errands, etc.) as needed, and
• Completing other duties as assigned.

Specific attributes include:
Experience
• Required: Bachelor's degree in security management, criminal justice, cybersecurity or similar fields;
• Required: Five years of progressive experience in similar roles in a reputable organization;
• Required: Three or more years of experience in law enforcement and/or military service;
• Preferred: Experience working in transportation management or as a professional driver; ·
• Preferred: Experience working in the cybersecurity and/or information technology fields; and
• Preferred: Experience working in a multinational organization in the relief or development field.
Skills
• Required: Strong project management, security operations and crisis response skills;
• Required: Professional security, self-defense and/or emergency responder training;
• Required: Fluency in English and with excellent written and oral communication;
• Required: Strong computer skills with demonstrated capacity in word processing, project management, people management, expense management, document management and communication applications;
• Preferred: Fluency in multiple languages, including Luganda, Lusoga, Luo and/or Swahili;
• Preferred: A valid driver's license and certificate in defensive driving; and
• Preferred: Understanding of Google and Zoho application suites and Click-Up project management.

The Security Manager will report to Redeem's National Director and will be based in Kampala working primarily in Kampala with frequent travels throughout Uganda.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Minimum of UCE Certificate
• A certificate from a recognized security training institution.

INDIVIDUAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Welcoming all the guests and all the customers that are coming in to the hospital
• Answering visitor’s questions concerning locations of various offices, rooms, and other areas within the hospital
• Observing the clients and non-clients to make sure we offer help where possible
• Observing and know the hospital staff coming in and going out
• Observing the client who have luggage and advising them not leave it lying around or un attended
• Guiding the hospital clients to make sure they take the right directions
• Observing the admitted clients (inpatients) before they leave, they have to present their discharge form and we must consult from the team to see that the admitted patients have paid their bills and dully discharged
GENERAL SECURITY
• Ensuring that there is peace and calm at the hospital
• Observing that the hospital property is in place and not tempered with or taken away
• Reporting any missing property of the hospital, staff and clients from the hospital to the head of security/maintenance at all times
PARKING
• Monitoring the park yard to see that it’s clear before taking over the shift (no bomb, abandoned car etc.)
• Checking cars and verifying if vehicles are parked in restricted areas, such as fire zones, ambulance entrances or reserved parking spaces
• Mastering the client who have parked to make sure that they do not block each other
• Reporting and raising an alarm if the person picking the car did not park it
• Ensuring that the parking is clean at all times
POWER SUPPLY
• Ensuring that lights are on when it turns dark and off if there is natural light
• Maintaining power backup, generator to make sure the fuel and the water level are as required
• Switching on and off the generator when required
• Cleaning the generator every week
