JOB DETAILS:
Redeem's mission is to protect widows and orphans from violent abuse and exploitation by:
1. Awakening the world to the need to defend the orphan and the widow in the twenty-first century;
2. Assembling the resources needed to protect the world's most vulnerable widows and orphans;
3. Assisting law enforcement in real cases that restore victims and restrain their abusers; and
4. Amplifying law enforcement protection through community engagement and capacity building.
We are currently implementing a program in Uganda to protect widows and orphans from the devastation of predatory eviction with plans to expand our defense of the vulnerable into other countries in the future.
As a Paralegal/Enumerator for Redeem, you will collect the data necessary to measure the impact of Redeem's intervention on the lives of widows and orphans, while also providing Redeem's attorneys with the paralegal support necessary to effectively protect their clients from predatory eviction. Specific responsibilities include
Impact Evaluation (75%)
1. Collaborating with Redeem's M&E Manager and organizational leadership in the development of Redeem's impact evaluation strategy and implementation model;
2. Liaising with local council leaders and other local authorities to identify populations of recently widowed women and orphaned children in Redeem's project area;
3. Conducting surveys and/or investigations to determine the prevalence of predatory eviction victimization among identified widows and orphans;
4. Collecting relevant data about survey and/or investigation subjects, including but not limited to demographics, marital status, land ownership and incidents of abuse;
5. Providing Redeem's leadership with analysis, insights and commentary on the vulnerable populations identified and data collected from these vulnerable populations;
6. Connecting survey and/or investigation subjects who meet Redeem's casework intake criteria with Redeem's Investigators for potential assistance; and
7. Supporting other Paralegals/Enumerators in evaluations in their respective project areas as needed.
Paralegal Support (25%)
1. Partnering with other members of the casework team in developing Redeem's intervention strategy.
2. Assisting Redeem attorneys in researching and drafting legal documents such as contracts and pleadings;
3. Preparing, filing, retrieving and following up on documents with courts and other governing bodies;
4. Assisting clients in obtaining letters of administration, certificates of customary ownership, land titles and other similar legal documents from the Land office, Admin General's Office, and other governing bodies;
5. Assisting Redeem attorneys in preparation for litigation, mediation and deposition proceedings; and
6. Supporting clients, attorneys and law enforcement partners by serving as a bailiff and/or process server.
Miscellaneous
Communicating with donors, supporters, media and other outside parties about Redeem's work; Contributing to the review and design of organizational systems, guidelines and policies;
Participating in Redeem's professional development and spiritual formation activities; Supporting other teams within Redeem in the achievement of their objectives; Performing clerical duties (photocopying, filing, posting, errands, etc.) as needed, and Completing other duties as assigned.

The Surveillance Officer will be responsible for the day to day implementation of the surveillance/EVD response activities in the division/at City Hall EOC. S/he will work with KCCA MOH to plan, implement, monitor and evaluate surveillance activities in the Kampala City. The Officer will be seconded to KCCA and work with their surveillance teams and MOH to produce quality daily updates and weekly reports including alert report, sitreps and updates. S/he will support timely accurate reporting of surveillance data in the division/city
This is a contract position for 6 months, renewable based on availability of funding and scope of work.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Ensure implementation of the EVD response and recovery activities in the five KCCA divisions
• Review surveillance data on a daily basis to identify trends and vulnerabilities linked to provision of services and population mobility/infectious disease risk, make recommendations for improvement, and ensure follow up action is instituted
• Provide ongoing technical support to the KCCA staff to improve the surveillance systems
• Review surveillance data outputs for quality, timeliness, completeness, and provide feedback and follow-up to ensure data quality.
• Provide documentation of the EVD response in the city and the lessons learned for future reference
• Support the Health facilities within the city surveillance system to improve reporting
• Organize regular meetings between KCCA, health facilities and implementing partners
