JOB DETAILS:
The International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC) is an independent non-profit organization that combines innovative research, market systems development, and strategic partnerships to spread sustainable agricultural solutions for improved soil health, food security, and livelihoods around the world.
IFDC is recruiting for the above project in Uganda. The projects will work with over 100,000 beneficiaries in the highland areas of the three regions of Elgon, Kigezi, and Rwenzori, in northern Uganda and in other areas relevant to agricultural production and processing of project supported crops.
The proposed project aims to achieve the following main impacts:
1. Food security and dietary diversity improved for rural households in the Ugandan highlands, Northern Uganda and other productive regions of the country
2. Ugandan smallholder farming households obtain a living income and are sustainably economically resilient
3. Eco-efficient farming, making sustainable use of and protecting natural resources
4. The agriculture sector offers resource-constrained households a pathway out of poverty
5. Creation of jobs and economic opportunities for rural and urban populations with a focus on women, youth and socially and economically disadvantaged persons
IFDC is seeking to recruit a qualified individuals to fill the position of Janitors for the above project. The above staff will be based in Kabale & Fort Portal Offices.
Position summary
The Janitors will be part of IFDC Administration Team and will work under the responsibility of the Finance and Administration Assistants in the respective office. They will be responsible for maintaining an efficient office environment and provide administrative, secretarial and clerical support to others in the office as required
Main tasks and responsibilities
• Keep office area clean and tidy
• Greet public and clients and direct them to the correct staff member
• Receive, sort and distribute incoming mail and prepare outgoing mail for distribution
• Maintain office filing and storage systems
• Photocopying and binding office documents
• Arrange and dust furniture and equipment, empty waster paper baskets on a daily basis
• Ensure continuous stock of kitchen supplies and requisition for supplies and when need arises
• Report any breakdown/breakages to supervisor as and when need arises.
• Assist in set up of meetings and ensure that meeting rooms are well arranged and that refreshments are served for meetings.
• Assist in cleaning the floor, windows and bathrooms ensuring all required supplies are available
• Clean kitchen utensils and maintain office common room in a neat and orderly manner at all times
• Assist in daily cleaning of compound where applicable
• Any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor
Expected Outputs
• Offices and facilities are kept clean on a daily basis.
• Kitchen stocks/supplies are maintained.
• Requisitions are made on a timely basis.
• Proper record levels of office supplies are maintained at all times
Supervision and team collaboration
The Janitors will be supervised by and report to the Finance and Administration Assistants in their respective offices.
Required Skills
• A Levels Certificate.
• Fluency in Spoken & Written English Language
• Certificate in Business Administration is an added advantage
• Locals from the respective areas are highly encouraged to apply
• Working experience in a similar or closely related role is an added advantage
