National Media Group (NMG) is Uganda’s most influential media house, operating The Daily Monitor, Saturday Monitor, Sunday Monitor, The East African Newspapers, 93.3 KFM, 90.4 Dembe FM, and Nation Courier Service. It also operates NTV, the biggest and most popular English-language television station, and Spark TV, the first female-focused and fastest-growing television station in Uganda. Job Title: Ad Operations (Ad Ops) Specialist
Reports To: GM-Commercial

Role Overview:
The Ad Operations Specialist is responsible for the setup, management, optimization, and reporting of digital advertising campaigns across NMG’s digital platforms using Google Ad Manager (GAM) and Social Media tools. This role ensures the seamless execution of programmatic and direct ad campaigns while optimizing website inventory to maximize indirect Google digital revenue. The specialist will also generate post-campaign reports for clients and assist in technical implementations such as third-party ad tag setups, landing page creation, and email newsletter development.
Main Responsibilities
- Set Up and Monitor Digital Ad Campaigns:
- Configure and manage digital advertising campaigns in Google Ad Manager (GAM), ensuring proper targeting, pacing, and delivery.
- Utilize Social Media tools to execute and monitor campaigns across NMG’s platforms.
- Work with Third-Party Ad Servers:
- Collaborate with third-party ad servers and tag management solutions to implement programmatic campaigns.
- Troubleshoot campaign delivery issues, resolving discrepancies in ad serving and reporting.
- Ensure Proper Ad Placement:
- Place ads strategically to maintain user experience while optimizing website performance.
- Monitor campaign performance to ensure ads are delivered effectively without disrupting user engagement.
- Optimize Website Performance:
- Improve click-through rates (CTR), visibility, and user engagement on NMG’s digital platforms.
- Optimize website inventory to increase indirect revenue through Google Ads programmatic advertising.
- Analyze Campaign Performance:
- Use Google Analytics and other tracking tools to analyze audience behavior and improve campaign performance.
- Provide insights on user engagement, ad impressions, and conversion rates to refine strategies.
- Manage Ad Inventory:
- Oversee ad inventory to ensure optimal fill rates and eCPMs (effective cost per thousand impressions).
- Implement and troubleshoot third-party ad tags, pixels, and tracking codes using basic JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Assist in Technical Implementations:
- Support the development of landing pages and email newsletters for digital advertising campaigns.
- Work closely with BES (Business Enterprise Solutions) developers and design teams to ensure ad placements follow best practices.
- Generate Post-Campaign Reports:
- Produce after-community reports for clients, summarizing key performance metrics, insights, and recommendations.
- Provide monthly performance reports on website ad inventory, programmatic revenue, and direct campaigns.
- Enhance Campaign Strategy:
- Use data insights to improve campaign strategy and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with the Sales Team to support digital advertising pitches and proposals.
- Stakeholder Coordination:
- Coordinate with clients and agencies to ensure smooth campaign execution.
- Liaise with internal teams to align campaign objectives with NMG’s commercial goals.
- Training Support:
- Support the internal team with training on Digital Advertising trends to enhance their understanding of ad operations and optimization techniques.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in digital ad operations or a related role.
- Prior experience working with publishers, digital media, or Digital Advertising Agencies is preferred.
Educational Background (Inferred):
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, Information Technology, or a related field from a recognized institution is typically expected for such roles.
- Certifications in Google Ad Manager, Google Analytics, or Digital Marketing are an added advantage.
Core Competencies
- Proficiency in Google Ad Manager (GAM):
- Expertise in campaign trafficking, reporting, and optimization using GAM.
- Ability to set up and manage campaigns with precise targeting and delivery settings.
- Experience with Analytics Tools:
- Skilled in using Google Analytics, YouTube Admin, and other Social Media tools to track campaign performance and audience behavior.
