Role Overview:
The District Engineer heads the Works Department, overseeing infrastructure development, maintenance, and technical services such as roads, buildings, and water systems in the district.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, design, and supervise infrastructure projects, including roads, buildings, and water systems.
- Prepare technical specifications, budgets, and bills of quantities for district projects.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of contractors and infrastructure projects.
- Maintain district assets, such as roads and public buildings, through regular repairs and upgrades.
- Advise the District Council on technical matters related to infrastructure development.
- Supervise and mentor technical staff in the Works Department.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
- A Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is an added advantage.
- Must be registered with the Engineers Registration Board with a valid practicing license.
- At least 9 years of experience in civil engineering, with 3 years at a senior level in a public or private organization.
