About Safe Way Right Way (SWRW)
Safe Way Right Way is a non-governmental organization established in 2013 through a partnership between the World Bank’s Global Road Safety Partnerships and TotalEnergies. The organization focuses on improving road safety along Uganda’s economic road corridors. Through collaborative efforts with the public and private sectors, SWRW aims to achieve its vision of a crash-free road network in Uganda.
The SWRW Communications Graduate Trainee Program
SWRW recognizes the importance of professional road safety reporting and journalism in educating the public, advocating for policy change, and driving best practices. The program emphasizes the use of traditional and digital media to communicate achievements, challenges, and interventions while raising SWRW’s influence across Uganda. This is an opportunity for young, proactive, and creative individuals to gain valuable hands-on experience in communications, supported by mentorship and on-the-job training.
Key Responsibilities
As a Communications Graduate Trainee, you will:
• Enhance digital communication efforts to create awareness and engagement for SWRW activities.
• Support website content creation and timely updates.
• Monitor and track media activity for impact analysis.
• Improve internal communication processes for better project cohesion.
• Assist in planning and executing key communication activities.
• Manage the production of corporate-branded materials.
• Develop and maintain a photo bank to support reporting and communications.
• Create quarterly and annual newsletters to showcase the organization's work.
Qualifications and Requirements
To qualify for this program, you must:
• Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication, Media, or Journalism (completed no more than 3 years prior to 20th January 2025).
• Possess excellent computer skills, with experience in social media, Microsoft Office, Canva, or other graphic design platforms.
• Have a passion for effective communication and be skilled at using various tools to deliver impactful messaging.
• Be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and possess superior written, verbal, and organizational skills.
• Demonstrate creativity in designing engaging messages and posts.
• Be able to work independently and collaboratively with staff, donors, and vendors.
• Exhibit attention to detail, dependability, flexibility, and confidentiality.
Facilitation
The trainee will receive a modest allowance to cover lunch and transportation costs for the days worked.
