JOB DETAILS:

Reports to: University Secretary
1. Purpose of the Job:
The Director Human Resource (DHR) is a senior position in the University. The DHR shall provide
strategic leadership to the Directorate of Human Resource, and initiate, develop and implement
human resource and administrative policies, systems and processes in accordance with the
University Strategic Plan.

2. Qualifications, Experience and Competencies:
1. Have a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management; Business Administration (HRM
option); Public Administration & Management; or Organisational Psychology (HRM option) from
a recognized university or institution of higher learning.
2. A minimum of ten (10) years of proven working experience in human resource management,
five (5) of which should be in a senior management position in a reputable organisation.
3. Member of a professional human resource management body.
4. Good leadership and communication skills.
5. ICT literate.
6. Have a demonstrable excellent track record of high ethical standards and professionalism.
7. A mature and practicing Christian who subscribes to the University’s Core values and
Philosophy.
8. A person with experience in higher education institutions will have an added advantage.
9. Be between 40-50 years of age at the time of application.

3. Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Develop, implement and monitor a Human Resource strategic and annual plan consistent with
the University Human Resource Policies.
2. Prepare annual work plans and budgets for the Directorate of Human Resource and monitors
the utilisation of the Directorate resources in line with financial regulations.
3. Initiate, develop, implement and review the University human resource policies, plans,
strategies, guidelines and procedures.
4. Develop strategies, systems and procedures to attract, develop and retain competent staff,
while ensuring good work ethos and adherence to approved policies.
5. Coordinate performance management in the University.
6. Provide professional guidance and counsel on human resource matters to Management,
governing bodies of the University, line managers, and Deans.
7. Supervise, mentor, coach and appraise the staff in the Directorate.
8. Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor
