Heritage International School is seeking a visionary and experienced High School Principal to lead our Grades 9–12 program. The High School Principal will be responsible for overseeing the academic, spiritual, and social development of students, ensuring they are prepared for post-secondary education and future success. This role involves guiding teachers and staff, managing curriculum development, and fostering a Christ-centered, academically rigorous, and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Administration:
- Oversee daily operations of the High School division, ensuring a structured and efficient learning environment.
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate High School teachers and support staff to foster professional growth and high performance.
- Collaborate with the school’s leadership team to align the High School program with the mission and vision of Heritage International School.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to promote a positive school culture and student success.
Academic Excellence and Curriculum Development:
- Oversee the implementation of a rigorous curriculum aligned with North American standards and international best practices.
- Manage Advanced Placement (AP) courses, ensuring they meet College Board requirements and prepare students for university-level work.
- Monitor student academic performance and implement intervention strategies to support struggling learners.
- Promote innovative teaching methods, integrating biblical principles, technology, and critical thinking skills into the curriculum.
- Support the development of electives and extracurricular opportunities that enhance students’ academic and personal growth.
College and Career Readiness:
- Guide students in their preparation for post-secondary education, including university applications, scholarships, and career planning.
- Collaborate with counselors to provide resources and support for students exploring academic and career pathways.
- Build relationships with universities and other institutions to facilitate student admissions and opportunities.
Student Development and Discipline:
- Foster a Christ-centered, inclusive, and supportive environment that promotes student well-being.
- Oversee student discipline, ensuring a fair and consistent approach that aligns with school policies and values.
- Encourage student leadership through programs such as student government, clubs, and service initiatives.
- Promote a culture of accountability, responsibility, and respect among students and staff.
Community Engagement:
- Build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff to create a cohesive and supportive school community.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing regular updates on High School achievements, events, and policies.
- Represent the High School division at school-wide events, Board meetings, and community functions.
Operational Management:
- Manage scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation for the High School division.
- Ensure compliance with school policies, AP requirements, and Ugandan education regulations.
- Plan and oversee High School events such as graduation, college fairs, and retreats.
Qualifications:
- A master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field (preferred).
- At least 5 years of experience in educational leadership, ideally in an international school setting.
- Strong knowledge of Advanced Placement (AP) programs and North American curriculum standards.
- Proven expertise in curriculum development, teacher supervision, and student engagement.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- A vibrant Christian faith and commitment to integrating biblical principles into education and leadership.
- A personal testimony and statement of faith that aligns with the values and mission of Heritage International School.
