JOB DETAILS:
To undertake legal measures and activities to promote compliance by the operators to the prevailing laws and regulations.

Primary Tasks/Responsibilities
1. To carry out investigations in respect of cases of anti-regulatory conduct. This will include interviewing witnesses and perpetrators, observing, investigating, gathering evidence, taking formal witness statements, and liaising with the Enforcement Team and agreeing appropriate action.
2. Create and manage effective action plans in response to audit discoveries and compliance violations
3. Implement and manage an effective routine legal compliance monitoring program.
4. To support the legal process in the preparation for cases going to Court and giving evidence in Court.
5. Participate in litigation of communications offences.
6. To investigate any complaint/accusation regarding a licensed operator and follow up with the Operator if necessary while making sure all parties and departments involved are kept up-to-date on the status of any issues;
7. To provide legal advice and enforcement action in respect of debt collection together with the relevant units in the Finance Department.
8. To provide input into proposed regulatory frameworks and Guidelines as deemed necessary for the effective regulation of the sector

Education and Professional qualifications
• A Bachelor’s degree in Laws;
• A Post Graduate Diploma in legal practice from the Law Development Centre;
• Enrolled as an advocate of the High Court of Uganda.

Working Experience
• At least Two (2) years of relevant working experience in a similar corporate setting.
• Experience in litigation and criminal prosecution will be an added advantage.
