KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Contribute application development initiatives to the overall IT & Bank digital strategy.
2. Developing designated software solutions within the Bank to ensure that the software needs are met within the agreed timelines.
3. Documenting system developments in accordance to the application development policy.
4. Defining designated business functional and technical requirements that would guide procurement of various software needed by the Bank
5. Customizing and implementing acquired software to enable automated functionality.
6. Specifying and ensuring application controls are incorporated during design of the software in order to check on risk exposure.
7. Defining and testing the software or systems after development to ensure that the set functional and security parameters are in place.
8. Build interfaces between systems.
9. Drive and deliver on the team goals and objectives by offering effective participation.
10. Defining and reviewing test strategy and an operational test plan methodology.
11. React quickly to application development related security incidents to regain customer confidence
12. Develop applications and interfaces
13. Expands knowledge and capabilities to continually add value and progress within the Bank Digital Financial Services team

Skills and Experience
1. Excellent knowledge of at least two programming languages.
2. Experience of Development in a cross-platform, multi-tier environment with a bias in System Integration with Telcos, Mobile Money Systems and ecommerce APIs e.g. Paypal, MasterCard, Visa among others
3. Application development experience using any of the following technologies: Java 1.8+, Spring Framework, Apache Camel, Spring Boot, Restful Services (JAX-RS), REST and SOAP API, Java Testing Frameworks (JUnit, Mockito, PowerMockito), Microservices, JPA/JDBI, Openshift.
4. A good understanding of Cloud infrastructure.
5. Able to work with a variety of customers and collaborate with technical teams.
6. Experience working in a fast-paced agile environment.
7. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
8. Excellent planning, organization, problem-solving and analytical skills.
9. Working experience in Web, Mobile or POS application development & have demonstrable record of accomplishment in development of digital products and solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Service desk operation support across all applications
2. User setup and user management for all applications
3. Applications support and Project Implementations
4. Responsible for IT BCM through coordination of ITDR exercises for critical applications in line with the bank policies and tracking the closure of issues logged during the tests.
5. Ensure effective technical BAU support for core Business applications
6. Provide requisite technical advisory & support for deployment and management of the corporate business systems
7. Ensure security of business data within systems
8. Provide expert application support to core Business applications
9. Participate in delivery of core applications training
10. Work closely with Application Vendors to ensure that the applications developed by Vendors comply with KCB Uganda’s IT policies and architectural standards. In addition, manage supplier performance to ensure compliance with service level agreements.
11. Validating related costs in the respective BAU environment.
12. Provide service desk support as a level 1 support engineer

Skills and Experience
1. Knowledge in Microsoft Server Operating Systems, server 2003, 2008, 2012, 2016, Sun Solaris and IBM.
2. Knowledge in virtualization and cloud computing, VMWare, Hyper V and MS Azure.
3. Knowledge in various Applications, Core banking, E-banking, ATM switch and System Center.
4. Knowledge of MSSQL, DB2, Oracle 9i and database management Systems is a must and experience working with open source UNIX.
5. Significant experience in supporting databases (preferably Oracle, postgresssql and/or Microsoft SQL)
6. Application development skills
7. Exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and persuasively, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence; speak clearly to third parties and employees.
8. Able and willing to solve complex analytical challenges, independently analyze information; and make recommendations based on analysis.
9. Self-motivated team player with the ability to adapt and work co-operatively and effectively.
