Founded in 1995, the organizationadvocates for social change and gender equality in the Horn of Africa and works specifically on protecting women’shuman rights, promoting women’s access to justice, supporting economic empowerment, and activating women’s political participation

POSITION SUMMARY
The Regional Programme Associate (RPA) will manage a portfolio of projects and related activities and contribute to further refining SIHA’s strategy and its effective implementation. The ‘RPA’ will be responsible for supporting and coordinating the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of SIHA Programmes and working across the countries to provide support to build the capacity of Staff. The ‘RPA’ will work very closely with the Regional Coordinator- WeCannot Wait Project and the SIHA Regional Advocacy and Communications Team.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
In collaboration with SIHA staff and under the supervision of the Regional Coordinator- We Cannot Wait Project and Regional Program Coordinator, the ‘RPA’ will:
• Support the SIHA programme teams in the Region especially in planning, management, implementation, and quality assurance;
• Work in collaboration with SIHA teams across and the regional office to develop work plans and programme development;
• Review and contribute to reports, research, articles, or any other documents produced by SIHA in the course of its work and ensure high quality output
• Work closely with the Regional Advocacy and Communications team to plan and oversee implementation of the advocacy and communication strategies documenting project impact, stories of success and coordinating creative advocacy and knowledge production.
• In close collaboration with the Regional Advocacy and Communications team, support the development of communication and advocacy knowledge products such as newsletters, policy briefs, press statements and position papers across the region
• Build the reporting and documentation capacities of SIHA country teams and ensure quality and timely reporting of all activities and projects;
• Support SIHA operational staff in the region and suggest opportunities to SIHA management for staff capacity building and skills development.

Required skills
• Bachelor’s Degree in human rights, journalism, development studies, law and relevant disciplines
• Relevant qualifications and experience (experience in politics, legal rights, and public policy). At least 4 years experience in civil society advocacy.
• Good understanding of the women movements and social justice and human rights movements dynamics
• High-level written and verbal communication skills relevant to the role such as experience in writing policy documents, government submissions and media communications
• Demonstrated advocacy, relationship-building, and stakeholder engagement skills
• High level organizational and administrative skills and ability to prioritize workload and work under pressure as well as meet deadlines
• Demonstrated computer literacy skills and proficiency using the Microsoft Office and other relevant software

Desirable
• Experience in human rights gender equality, civil society and activism in closed societies and societies in transitions.
• Understanding of the role and potentials of national, /feminist organizations that are led by African women.
• Experience in planning and executing advocacy strategies
• Able to strategically utilize social media platforms
