JOB DETAILS:
Minimum Qualification
• Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Geodesy; or Land Surveying and Geomatics Engineering; or Eng. Surveying and Photogrammetry plus a Masters Degree in Geodesy; or Geoinformatics; or Photogrammetry from a recognized University/Institution. Applicants should be registered with the Surveyors Registration Board (SRB).
Working Experience
• Applicants should have a minimum of twelve (12) years relevant working experience, three (3) of which should have been served at Assistant Commissioner level in Government or an equivalent level in a reputable organization.
Duties
The incumbent will be responsible to the Assistant Commissioner, Surveys and Geodesy; and Assistant Commissioner Mapping for performing the following duties:-
1. Coordinating the formulation, review, development and implementation of Sector plans, strategies, policies and regulations for the conduct of surveys and mapping in Uganda;
2. Providing technical and administrative leadership for the efficient and effective conduct of national survey and mapping programs, projects and activities;
3. Initiating and supervising the conduct of national studies and research on surveys, mapping and incidental activities;
4. Supervising Survey projects and programmes for the maintenance of national territorial boundaries;
5. Supervising the provision of technical support, supervision and training to local governments and relevant Stakeholders in matters of land surveys and mapping;
6. Advising Government on matters regarding or incidental to surveys and mapping, and equipment relating to their functions;
7. Coordinating the collection, custody and update of national surveys and mapping records;
8. Monitoring the programmes and activities of private surveyors;
9. Planning, budgeting and accounting for the resources and performance of Department;
10. Supervising, mentoring and appraising the performance of the staff of the Department;
11. Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
