JOB DETAILS:
As a Communications and Development Fellow at Pollicy, you will play a vital role in bridging the gap between data, technology, and communication. Currently, the organisation has a very active communications presence both digital and traditional. This position, therefore, will be aimed at further promoting its work through communications creatively and innovatively. He, she or they will work under the overall leadership and supervision of the Director of Communications at Pollicy.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
1. Content Management: Writing, editing, reviewing, uploading, and maintaining website and social media content to ensure it remains up-to-date and engaging.
2. Development Support: Collaborating with our Data Products Lead to create innovative data products and initiatives that contribute to the field of civic technology.
3. Digital Platforms: Utilizing your expertise in platforms such as WordPress, Webflow, Figma, and more to enhance our online presence and user experience.
4. Communication: Working closely with our communications team to craft compelling stories using open data, contributing to our mission of promoting civic engagement, service delivery, and accountability.
5. Media Relations: Keep abreast of (and appropriately communicate to the team) developing trends and news items related to our vision, strategy, and objectives via media monitoring and increasing the public’s awareness of our offline presence and profile
Skills and Experience required
1. Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
2. Strong writing skills.
3. Demonstrated experience or interest in producing content across all print and digital media.
4. Knowledge and comfort of using social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, etc.)
5. Experience evaluating social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, etc.)
6. Experience developing and maintaining websites using content management software (including WordPress) and Google Analytics. Knowledge of HTML is considered an asset.
7. Two years of experience in a related field, including tech, feminism and data
8. Intermediate user of Microsoft Office software including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Publisher
9. Demonstrated commitment to women’s rights, feminism and technology
