Our client, a reputable commercial bank registered by Bank of Uganda is looking for experienced, professionally astute, self-motivated and committed team players. Interested applicants should possess requisite qualifications and skills to enable them carry-out the responsibilities below.

Job Title: Head of Internal Audit

Tasks/Responsibilities:

•  Developing an annual department strategy and budget, in line with the corporate strategy
• Developing, reviewing, and updating the internal audit manual in line with the strategic objectives
• Developing and maintaining an internal Audit Policy Reviewing and appraising the soundness of business processes and operating controls
•  Evaluating the cost effectiveness and efficiency of the internal control systems
• Determining the extent to which corporate assets are properly accounted for and safeguarded from losses
•  Evaluating compliance with policies and regulations, laws, and contractual obligations
• Certifying periodic returns submitted to Bank of Uganda and other stakeholders
•  Carrying out special investigations
• Evaluating the reliability of the information produced by accounting and computer systems
• Reviewing audit findings with auditees and issuing audit reports
•  Preparing timely audit reports for the executive management, the Audit Committee and the Board of Directors.

Qualification, Skills and Personal Specifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Audit, Finance or Business Administration with good grades from a recognized University Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, CIA, CIMA
•  At least 8 years of increasingly responsible risk-based auditing experience of which at least 3 years at senior management level with a respectable financial institution
• Good knowledge of MS office applications
• Membership to the institute of Internal Auditors will be an added advantage
•  A Masters’ degree in the related fields will be an added advantage Strong analytical, and presentation skills with the ability to present complex issues clearly and concisely
• Good working knowledge of financial reporting in line with the FIA and IFRS and proficiency in report writing
•  Results oriented with the ability to meet deadlines on assignments, prioritize multiple accountabilities in demanding environment
• Should possess good understanding of the standard of the IPPF Highly motivated, self-driven and 30 - 45 years.
