Job Announcement: Head of Neonatal Nursing at One World Health
About One World Health: One World Health is a globally recognized healthcare organization committed to providing accessible, compassionate, and quality medical services to underserved populations around the world. We seek an experienced and dynamic Head of Neonatal Nursing to lead our neonatal care team and drive excellence in neonatal healthcare delivery.

Position: Head of Neonatal Nursing

Location: Masindi

Type: Full-time

Key Result Areas: As the Head of Neonatal Nursing at One World Health, you will oversee the neonatal care department. Your strategic expertise and compassionate leadership will be instrumental in shaping the quality of care provided to newborns and their families. Your key result areas will encompass:
1. Clinical Leadership:
• Provide clinical leadership and guidance to the neonatal nursing team, ensuring the highest standards of care delivery, patient safety, and infection control.
• Develop and implement evidence-based protocols, best practices, and clinical guidelines to optimize neonatal care outcomes.
1. Team Management:
• Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate neonatal nursing staff, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented team environment.
• Delegate responsibilities effectively and ensure proper staffing levels for seamless patient care.
1. Quality Assurance:
• Monitor and assess the quality of neonatal care services, conducting regular audits, reviews, and assessments to identify areas for improvement.
• Implement continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and patient satisfaction.
1. Strategic Planning:
• Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and execute the department’s strategic goals, initiatives, and performance metrics aligned with the organization’s mission and vision.
1. Education and Training:
• Develop and conduct ongoing education and training programs for neonatal nursing staff, ensuring they have the latest skills and knowledge in neonatal care.
1. Collaboration and Coordination:
• Work closely with medical professionals, including neonatologists, pediatricians, and other healthcare team members, to ensure comprehensive and multidisciplinary care for neonatal patients.
1. Resource Management:
• Manage departmental budgets, resources, and supplies effectively to optimize operational efficiency while maintaining high-quality care standards.
1. Research and Innovation:
• Stay abreast of neonatal care research and technology advancements, integrating innovative practices into the care delivery model.
1. Neonatal Care:
• Provide comprehensive care to newborns, including assessing their health status, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring their overall well-being.
• Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed by medical professionals.
• Manage and support infants requiring specialized care, such as premature infants or those with medical complications.

Qualifications and Requirements:
• Diploma in Nursing with a specialization in Neonatal Care.
• Valid nursing license and any additional certifications related to neonatal nursing.
• Proven experience in neonatal nursing, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting.
• Strong understanding of neonatal health issues, development, and evidence-based practices.
• Minimum 2-3 years of progressive experience in neonatal nursing, including leadership roles.
• Strong clinical acumen, understanding of evidence-based practices, and familiarity with regulatory standards.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in data analysis, quality improvement methodologies, and strategic planning.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment.
• Compassion, empathy, and a patient-centered approach to care.
• Proficiency in medical documentation and record-keeping.
