Infectious disease fellow
The Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi , Faculty of Health Sciences is hiring an Infectious Disease Fellow. The successful candidate will have a duo reportlrig to the Director and Associate Director, Infectious Disease Fellowship.
The infectious disease fellowship is a sub-specialty training program for people who have already completed residency training in internal medicine. It is modeled after North American programs using the IDSA template and adapted for an East African context. In addition to the Nairobi-based experience, there is also 4 months of training at the University of British. Columbia in Canada. The program is for at least 2 years and includes extensive inpatient and outpatient supervised clinical experience. An optional 3rd year research—oriented year may be available, depending on the availability of funding. The graduating fellows will have expertise at the subspecialty level in the broad range of infectious diseases, including complicated HIV infection, antimicrobial usage and stewardship, infection control, TB, consultation for a wide variety of complicated inpatient and outpatient infections. The fellow will also do a clinical research project which should be submitted for publication prior to completion of the program.
