Job offer summary
Touton Uganda Ltd. is seeking a motivated Sustainability Officer to join its upcountry team in Kasese to lead the sustainability programme in Western region.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic team under the supervision of the Sustainable Sourcing Manager and will be responsible for the coordination of field activities seeking to create a long-term commercial relationship with smallholder coffee producers and to deliver services to improve livelihoods in coffee growing communities in the Rwenzori. .

Key responsibilities
• The Sustainability Officer will be based in Kasese, Western Uganda working closely with and reporting to the Sustainable Sourcing Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the sourcing of target crops (including coffee) following sustainability and traceability standards; coordinating field activities related to obtaining and maintaining sustainability certifications; and coordinating special projects in Kasese district.

Other responsibilities include:
• Participating in conceptualizing, planning and budgeting of project activities
• Planning of weekly and monthly field activities against project workplans and budgets
• Coordination of sustainability certification for target commodities including preparation of procedures and documents
• Coordination of field activities with third party organisations and partners
• Sourcing of target certified crops and implementation of quality, traceability and other certification requirements

Qualification, Skills and Experience
• Passion for and experience in sustainability and agricultural commodities
• Bachelor’s degree in agribusiness, business administration or general agriculture
• At least 3 year experience in sustainability project management in agricultural value chains, preferably coffee sector
• Field experience in mobilizing and interacting with smallholder producers, ideally for implementation of sustainability certification (UTZ, RFA, Organic, AAA, 4C, CAFÉ Practices…)
• Experience in creating, managing and implementing project budgets and workplans and being accountable for spend and delivery
• Ability to work in a high pressure, high performance remote environment; capacity to handle tasks autonomously
• Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation, data management processes, tools and softwares
• Excellent computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office package (Word, Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
• Excellent report writing skills and ability to report on projects through managerial structure
• Excellent relationship and communication skills with different audiences
• Proficient in Lukonzo language
