JOB DETAILS:
The applicant will among others be responsible for coordinating the overall conference
for the Women’s Human Rights Defenders.
The responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Administration & Governance
• Advises on objectives, theme/s and structure for the Conference
• Develops an all-inclusive programme which reflects the overall conference theme
• programme for the Conference
• Reviews past Conference reports- specifically the evaluation and suggest improvements or inclusions according to participant needs
• Participates in selection of keynote and other speakers (opening ceremony/guest of honour e.t.c) and provide their topic and contact details
• Liaise with speakers with regard to their topic and ensure all presentations are received before hand
• Develops an evaluation framework for the Conference
• Conference Programme and presentations
• Finalise the conference concept note and drafting of invitation letter
• Ensure the administration team handles delivery of invitation and drafting of participants’ list
• Develops guidelines for all presentation categories to be sent out in invitation
• letters to the presenters
• Spearheads meetings with the Conference team to discuss and obtain approval
• of the programme
• Branding & Social Media
• Provides ideas together with the Advocacy team for raising awareness amongst HRDs about the Conference using social media and other platforms
• Discusses and provides ideas together with the Communications section on the branding of different items for the Conference
Academic requirements
• Bachelors’ Degree in Law and /or Human Rights
• Masters’ degree is an added advantage
• Experience
• Must have at least 3yrs of experience in organising such a high level event.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast paced and complex environment.
• Flexible and proactive attitude towards problem-solving
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to lead a team
Skills:
• Maintain professional and positive demeanour
• Good computer skills; that is working knowledge of MS Word and Excel
• Proven accuracy and attention to detail
• Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills Possess good organisational skills with the capability of setting priorities when multiple demands are present
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
