Job Summary
The accountant will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring compliance with Ugandan tax laws, supporting audits, and utilizing modern accounting software. This role is key to enhancing the financial integrity and operational efficiency of the consultancy firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including ledgers, journals, and reconciliations.
- Generate periodic financial reports (monthly, quarterly, annually).
- Oversee tax computations and timely submission of statutory returns (VAT, PAYE, NSSF, Withholding Tax, etc.).
- Support internal and external audit processes.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Maintain and update financial data using accounting software.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of internal financial controls.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
- Proficiency in at least one of the following accounting packages e.g QuickBooks, Tally etc
- Strong understanding of Ugandan tax laws and statutory requirements.
- CPA qualification (completed or actively pursuing).
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- High integrity and professional ethics.
- Preferred Attributes
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Adaptability and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
- A proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
