IT Officer –Baikal Medical Tourism & Financial Solutions at Baikal Group
Position: IT Officer – Baikal Medical Tourism & Financial Solutions
Location: Kampala, Uganda
Reports To: IT Manager / Head of Operations
Role Overview
Lead and manage all IT systems supporting both the medical tourism and financial solutions sides of the business. Ensure robust, secure, and efficient IT infrastructure, software applications, data protection, and end-user support, facilitating seamless healthcare services and financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure & Systems Management
- Install, configure, and maintain workstations, networks, printers, and mobile devices for clinical and financial operations.
- Administer LAN/WAN connectivity, remote access, and internet services.
- Manage virtualization environments, ensuring high availability and scalability.
- Healthcare & Finance Applications Support
- Support deployment, troubleshooting, and integration of medical systems (e.g., EMR, HIS) and financial/ERP software.
- Serve as liaison with external vendors for system implementation and upgrades.
- Security & Compliance
- Implement cybersecurity measures: firewalls, antivirus, encryption, and user access policies.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare data privacy standards and financial regulations.
- Conduct regular audits, updates, and disaster recovery planning.
- User Support & Training
- Provide Tier‑1/2 helpdesk support to clinical, administrative, and financial staff.
- Develop and deliver training on IT tools, security awareness, and system usage.
- Procurement & Asset Management
- Maintain IT asset inventory (hardware & software), plan upgrades, and coordinate procurement.
- Manage licensing and vendor contracts, ensuring ROI and compliance.
- Project & Strategy Support
- Participate in IT strategy planning, aligning technology roadmaps with business goals.
- Support IT-related projects (e.g., finance tools rollout, telemedicine, client portals).
- Other Duties
- From time to time, offer support in other areas across teams as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in any IT-related course.
- 1–2 years of IT support/system administration experience, ideally in a commercial sector.
- Knowledge of networking, Windows/Linux servers, virtualization, and security.
- Certifications (e.g., MCSE, CCNA) preferred but not required.
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities—capable of supporting non‑technical staff.
- Demonstrated ability to develop user-friendly documentation and deliver training.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize effectively, and manage deadlines.
- High level of integrity, reliability, and discretion in handling sensitive data.
