Special conditions
Some travel will be required between the SPOUTS head office, the factory at Nakawuka, other parts of Uganda and sometimes within East Africa in response to the business demands.

Position Summary
Formulate operational strategies that enhance synergy, support performance improvement, plan and manage procurement for all SPOUTS needs, Inventory Control and Management, Logistics, and secure efficiency and effectiveness while ensuring all processes remain legally enforceable and compliant.

Duties and Responsibilities
Procurement
1. Coordinate the procurement function, providing support and oversight to the procurement team
2. Ensure the necessary policies, processes and controls for an effective procurement system are in place and followed
3. Establish and manage partnerships with suppliers to obtain a cost-effective service

Inventory
1. Improve the inventory system to allow monitoring of stock levels and determining economic order quantities at all business locations
2. Project inventory needs according to commercial and project contracts, ensuring inventory is allocated efficiently
3. Monitor performance for all stock items at all times while ensuring correct ageing, stocking, and product performance
4. Safe guard all items (stock) from any misuse, only for effective, efficient and authorized utilization at SPOUTS.

Logistics
1. Develop operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements, enforce and evaluate policies and procedures for receiving products, equipment utilization, inventory management, and shipping methods
2. Monitor and control stock handling through policies for transport and handling to reduce breakages

Tactical and Operational
1. Design and implement a control environment that enforces risk management in all business operations including the safeguarding of all SPOUTS assets
2. Provide operations inputs and recommendations to strategic plans, prepare and complete action plans, resolve problems, complete department audits, identify and perform trend analysis, and coordinate operations budget process on all variables that enhance SPOUTS strategy as per set objectives
3. Ensure all operations are carried out in an appropriate and cost-effective manner to enhance SPOUTS vision and mission
4. Ensure processes and policies are updated to ensure relevancy and accordance with best practices
5. Mentor, train, assign, schedule, coach, counsel, and take disciplinary actions on employees as may be appropriate
6. Review performance for all the team and ensure that all staff are equipped with relevant tools and skills to perform their tasks
7. Forecast requirements, prepare department budgets, schedule expenditures, analyze variances and initiate corrective actions
8. Provide all operations performance reports timely and as may be required
9. Any other duty as shall be assigned by management

Qualifications/Experience
1. Ability to create and maintain an efficient system of operations to support the business needs, should be comfortable multitasking and working cross-functionally with different business units, and must have previous experience in related fields.
2. At least 5 years extensive experience in managing inventory, logistics and supply chain, especially with FMCGs.
3. University degree in Logistics, Procurement and Supply Chain Management or similar is desirable. Experience in a similar role will be an added advantage.

Language requirements
1. High level of competence in spoken and written English language skills.
2. Competence in spoken Luganda language is an advantage but not essential.
