JOB DETAILS:

S/He will ensure the production of high quality, well-written MEAL products. The role holder will be responsible for ensuring coordination among consortium partners through well-organized meetings and workshops, and will attend relevant working groups and fora on behalf of the Consortium Management Unit. The Consortium Senior MEAL Advisor will ensure that a functioning accountability mechanism is in place, and that all MEAL activities are implemented with consideration for child safeguarding policies and practices. 

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: Education in Emergencies Director  

Staff reporting to this post: 2 x MEAL Coordinators

Budget Responsibilities: None

Role Dimensions: The Consortium Senior MEAL Advisor will be responsible for maintaining good working relationships with MEAL focal points at partner organizations, MEAL counterparts as the ERP Secretariat and providing representation at external forums as necessary. This includes coordinating complex, multi-stakeholder activities. It is expected that the Senior MEAL Advisor will travel to project sites to support the implementation of MEAL activities.

To be successful for this role you will bring/have the following:

  • At least a Master’s Degree in either Statistics, Development Studies, Information Systems with Post Graduate training in M&E or Project planning and Management.
  • Minimum of five years working experience in monitoring and evaluation (preferably in education/protection related programmes with an International NGO).
  • Experience of developing comprehensive MEAL plans, ToRs, data collection tools and
  • Knowledge and use of various survey methods for monitoring of different programs.
  • Experience of conducting learning assessments, such as ASER, EGRA, EGMA, SGRA, SGMA
  • Experience of training and mentoring community-based volunteers, Sub-County and District stakeholders in data collection, data management and reporting.
  • Experience working with multiple partners as part of a consortium (ideally focused on Education or Child Protection)
  • Strong planning and coordination skills, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple competing priorities
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience of analysing complex primary data, and generating high quality written reports
  • Experience in the design, operationalisation and monitoring of accountability mechanisms
  • A solutions-focused approach to work, and the ability to provide recommendations to direct reports and supervisors
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Willingness to travel to support project activities as required
  • Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills. Software used includes Microsoft Office (especially Excel). Experience using SPSS and GIS applications is an advantage. Must have experience with KOBO Collect.
