CACH has been engaged in Uganda since 1994. Defined in the Strategy 2025, CACH focuses on the three main thematic fields: migration, income, and climate.
Description
The position encompasses two project coordination:
The project - Street children
Prevention through sustainable graduation from poverty (PSGP) – aims addressing the underlying causes and providing a preventative solution to the main triggers of why children end up working and living in the streets by reducing household poverty and strengthening resilience through increased and diversified income as well as enhanced sustainable management of natural resources. The project - Social Enterprise and Moringa Value Chain Development for Sustainable Livelihoods and Food Security in Northern Uganda (SEM) - aims at the socio- economic empowerment of vulnerable people and enhanced food security in northern Uganda by creating employment opportunities through the production and sale of selected agricultural commodities as well as improved access to balanced nutrition. It builds on the social enterprise Roots of the Nile, with the aim of promoting Moringa and, in the long term, also other value chains as per their economic and nutritional potentials.
The Project Coordinator is the overall responsible for project implementation and will oversee and monitor all the related activities. He/ she will lead the overall management of the project in close cooperation with the implementing partners, and he/she will be the main point of contact for all the other stakeholders.
Furthermore, he/ she will lead the processes and tools introduced by Caritas Switzerland this year (e.g. Partner Risk Assessment (PRA)/ Partner Capacity Development Plan (PCDP), Complaint Handling Mechanism, Terrorism Screening) with all partner organizations of the Uganda programme, as well as contribute to other programme tasks.
Tasks
• Ensure project implementation in accordance with the Caritas Swizterland and backdoor requirements
• Supervise operational and financial planning
• Develop and maintain relationships and facilitate communication internally between partners, and externally with relevant actors/ stakeholders for a successful project implementation and learning/ capacity development
• Manage, supervise, provide leadership, and support the consortium to ensure that the team fulfils its responsibilities
• Develop activity plans, reports and other relevant documents that meet the donor and internal requirements
• Ensure timely quality reporting
• Be responsible, together with the finance and compliance manager, for overall financial oversight of the project budget and expenditure
• Ensure adherence to monitoring and evaluation guidelines, frameworks, and indicators for the project including effective and efficient steering procedures
• Coordinate advocacy, communication, and visibility activities of the project
• Lead and implement the processes at the programme level (e.g. Partner Risk Assessment (PRA)/ Partner Capacity Development Plan (PCDP), Complaint Handling Mechanism, Terrorism Screening)
• Support the fundraising activities especially at country level (e.g. donor mapping, reporting meetings, identify fundraising opportunities, identify networking opportunities)
• Conceptualization of new approaches, concept notes and projects
• Additional tasks as commissioned by the Country Director to support the Uganda programme, e.g. shared file management system (cara), context/ thematic research
Requirements
• Proven experience (at least 5 years) in senior programme/project management positions working with national government, (I)NGOs, CBOs in Uganda
• Experience of working in or ideally managing a consortium with excellent coordination skills
• Background or experience in the field of agriculture, business development, nutrition and/or migration; knowledge about the graduation approach is an asset
• Leadership and training skills; able to build the capacity and guide diverse team
• Excellent communication skills
• Proven problem solving and organizational skills
• Able to work with minimum supervision and be pro-active
• Able to work under duress, occasional flexibility in terms of working off hours
• Advanced writing skills and experience in reporting
• Fluency in written and spoken English, knowledge of relevant local languages is an asset
• Computer skills incl. MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• Willingness and preparedness to regularly travel within Uganda
Work: Quota 100%
Start: February 2022
