Design Assistant Summary
The Design Assistant will be working under the overall leadership of the Director of Communication but under the direct supervision of the Design Lead at Pollicy from the head office in Kampala. The successful candidate will provide integral support to Pollicy’s focus areas through the design, creation, and execution of audio-visual materials.

Design Assistant Background
Pollicy’s growth and strength rely entirely on how well it promotes its work to the public, partners, and target audiences. Currently, the organisation has the presence of very active communication both digitally and traditionally. This position supporting the Design Lead therefore will aim to promote further Pollicy’s work through creative and innovative audio-visual design and production.

Design Assistant Purpose
The Design Assistant – Audio Visual will provide strategic audio-visual support to Pollicy’s Communications and design focus areas. The primary objectives of this position are:
• To support the Design Lead in the audio-visual production and promotion of Pollicy’s work with a clear focus on feminism, research products, data and all Pollicy’s focus areas
• To assist the Design Lead with creating visually appealing and effective designs that align with Pollicy’s brand identity.

The responsibilities of the Design Assistant (Audio Visual):
Audio Visual Design, Production and Promotion:
• Assist with designing and producing audio-visual materials, including videos, animations, and other multimedia assets including Instagram Reels and TikTok.
• Under the leadership of the Design Lead, collaborate with the Communications team to create visually appealing and effective designs that align with the company’s brand identity.
• Assist with the planning and execution of audio-visual projects, including scriptwriting, storyboarding, filming, and editing, specifically for Instagram Reels and TikTok.

Digital Engagement:
• Support the ongoing governance and maintenance of core audio-visual content on our website – including implementing SEO activities for the website and tracking web traffic against targets.
• Contribute to documenting and growing Pollicy’s success stories, photo and video library.
• Support the development and implementation of Pollicy’s online campaigns.

Skills and Experience:
• 2+ years of experience in audio-visual design and production, preferably in a marketing or creative agency setting.
• Proficiency in audio and video editing software, such as the full Adobe Creative Suite Programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro, Premiere Pro, InDesign, Adobe Express), Cap Cut and Final Cut Pro.
• Experience in scriptwriting and storyboarding for audio-visual projects.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Data skills will be an added advantage.
• Demonstrated commitment to women’s rights, feminism, and technology.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Strong accountability and attention to detail.
