Job Summary
StartHub Africa seeks a highly motivated and experienced Entrepreneurship Trainer to join our organization. The trainer will deliver entrepreneurship training programs and assist the Business Support Officer and Monitoring & Evaluation personnel. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in business, training entrepreneurs, and expertise in the lean startup and learner-centered design methodology.
Note: Applicants must be in either Gulu City or Lira City, as the selected entrepreneurship trainers will be expected to work and reside in their assigned city. StartHub will not provide relocation support, and applicants who reside outside of these areas should ensure their ability to work and stay in the respective city independently
Position Overview:
We are seeking trainers to conduct a four-day training program, with the goal of having each participating business create a business plan. This role is structured as a consulting contract, operating on a non-full-time basis and contingent upon project needs and specific activities.
The main tasks include conducting four-day training sessions and later assisting each trainee in developing a business plan.
It’s important to note that the actual development of the business plan may occur on days outside the designated training period. For such additional days spent on business plan creation, trainers will receive compensation at half the daily rate. The total payment will be influenced by the agreed-upon number of business plans to be created on each of these days.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities
1. Providing high-quality entrepreneurship training and mentoring under the Empower YOU program encompassing key business concepts, lean startup principles, and learner-centered design methodology.
2. Support in the development of training content and related materials
3. Delivering a minimum of two (2) training sessions per week in the desired language physically and in person at the training station assigned to in Lira or Gulu.
4. Conduct all related training at the communicated date, time and venue as required by the StartHub Africa
5. Conducting follow-up mentoring sessions to ensure the trainees create clear business plans.
6. Providing necessary and timely evaluation, reports, and feedback upon completion of the training activities.
7. Providing the necessary feedback and end of training evaluations at the end of each training session.
8. Providing daily updates at the end of each session and a detailed report and upon completion of each cohort.
9. And any other duty that may be incidental to the successful execution of your responsibilities.
Qualifications and Competencies
1. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Entrepreneurship, or a related field.
2. Proven experience (at least 2-3 years) in business or training entrepreneurs, with a focus on entrepreneurship development and support.
3. Strong knowledge of the lean startup methodology, business model canvas, and other relevant entrepreneurship frameworks.
4. Experience in designing and delivering training programs, incorporating interactive and participatory methodologies.
5. Excellent facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage diverse audiences.
6. Passion for entrepreneurship and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by entrepreneurs in the local context.
7. Familiarity with the social and economic landscape of Gulu City or Lira City, preferably with prior work experience in the region.
8. Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines effectively.
9. Proficiency in computer skills, including MS Office suite and training-related software.
10. Fluency in English is required, along with proficiency in either Langi (for applicants interested in Lira City) or Acholi (for applicants interested in Gulu City).
