This role will be responsible for overseeing the company’s finance and accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial record-keeping, reporting, and the efficient management of various operational areas as outlined below.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead month-end and annual financial closing and consolidation.
- Oversee internal and external audits.
- Ensure compliance with tax, VAT, import regulations, and Ugandan financial laws.
- Manage all accounting, finance, and audit functions, promoting best practices.
- Implement approval workflows and cost controls.
- Enforce consistent reporting on inventories and accounts receivable (AR).
- Drive AR performance and stock efficiency, including stock turns.
- Deliver timely financial analysis and insights to support executive decisions.
- Supervise and develop all META Uganda finance and accounting staff.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Manage cash flow, investments, and financial risk.
- Maintain rolling cash-flow forecasts, including for cross-border payments.
- Handle trade financing and external stakeholder relations (banks, auditors, etc.).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (minimum)
- Certified Public Accounting (CPA 4 or higher)
- SAGE proficient
- Good analytical and reporting skills with excellent attention to detail
- High professional integrity and organizational skills
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a busy accounting environment
- Uncompromising attention to business controls
- Strong leadership skills to develop and motivate his or her team.
- Effective communication to interface with multiple parties.
- Proven track record of people management & leadership.
