About the Role:
The Graduate Trainee - Engineering & Planning will support the day-to-day engineering and planning activities under the guidance of experienced development engineers. This role is designed to provide hands-on training and exposure to the continuing airworthiness management functions critical to the support of aircraft maintenance operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in all engineering and planning activities carried out by Uganda Airlines Engineering & planning department, including but not limited to,
- Support Aircraft and aircraft component reliability program and track repetitive defects.
- Provision of relevant continuing airworthiness information required to continually maintain an aircraft in a state of airworthiness
- Participate in the amendment of the Approved Maintenance Programs for the fleet operated,
- Maintaining and updating the Maintenance Information Software (MIS), using the MIS to track maintenance tasks/requirements, generate work orders/cards and retain maintenance records,
- Work with the Development engineers to coordinate scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities,
- Assist in the reporting of faults, malfunctions, defects, and any other occurrences,
- Participate in the assessment of Airworthiness Directives and Service Bulletins and other service information and implementing any required actions,
- Support access to the current technical manuals/ documentation from aircraft and aircraft component OEMs,
- Assist in the keeping Uganda airlines’ aircraft technical documents and maintenance records up to date
- Participate in authoring and amending of maintenance procedure manuals that are developed in-house such as Minimum Equipment List, Configuration Deviation List, Reliability Program, Maintenance Control Manual, Aircraft Maintenance Program, EDTO and LVO Maintenance Procedures, etc.
- Carry out other engineering and planning duties as assigned by the Manager Engineering and Planning
Minimum Qualifications:
- An honour’s Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical or Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognized aviation maintenance training school,
- Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) Diploma/License or Previous experience in airworthiness section of any national aviation authority.
- Basic understanding of continuing airworthiness management functions and maintenance procedures
- High level of attention to detail, discipline and safety compliance,
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Prior knowledge or Internship or Industrial training experience in an aviation engineering and planning environment is an added advantage.
