Infectious Diseases Specialist
Description
The position holder will lead the Mildmay Uganda global health security agenda by providing the overall strategic direction and thought leadership for global health security technical activities and lead a team dedicated to strengthening the capacity of local partners to design, implement, and monitor priority GHS activities. S/he will proactively spearhead the growth of GHS as part of the MUg strategic growth Agenda. S/he will be expected to establish and maintain robust systems and structures that will continually study, prepare, detect and respond to infectious disease outbreaks so that MUg remains at the forefront of the Global health security agenda.

Qualifications
Job Requirements:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Medicine & Surgery, Masters’ degree in Epidemiology or Fellowship on the CDC Field Epidemiology Training Program. The candidate must have a valid registration and a valid practicing licence.
• The successful candidate must have five (5) years’ experience working in an infectious disease setting with specific experience in the following technical areas: epidemiology, surveillance, community engagement, infection prevention, and control, or outbreak response operations. He/she shall also have a minimum of 3 years of experience strengthening the capacities of local structures; 3+ years’ experience working collaboratively with CDC, other US Government Agencies, international organizations, national GHS programs, and local partners, and a minimum of 1 years’ experience in Research work.
• Strong leadership, analytical and organizational skills, Dynamic systems thinking, high taste for innovation, and continuous quality improvement is an added advantage.
• All applicants must have a Non-judgmental approach to human relations; be in sympathy with Mildmay Uganda’s Christian values; possess good communication and interpersonal skills; and must be able to maintain good working relationships with clients and colleagues. Customer focus is paramount.
