1. Purpose of the Job:
The purpose of the Internal Auditor is to provide an independent assessment of the University's
activities and to ensure that the University operates effectively and efficiently.
2. Qualifications and Experience:
1. A Master’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or any other relevant field preferably an
Auditing option from a recognized university or institution of higher learning.
2. A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance or any other relevant
degree (Accounting/Auditing option) from a recognized university or institution of higher
learning.
3. A Certified Public Accountant with full CPA or ACCA or CIMA or an equivalent qualification.
4. At least ten (10) years of proven working experience in auditing in a reputable institution.
(experience in an institution of higher learning will be an added advantage).
5. Computer knowledge and skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the Internet are
mandatory.
6. Paying attention to detail.
7. Time management skills.
8. Teamwork skills.
9. Be a mature and practicing Christian who subscribes to the University’s Core values and
Philosophy.
10. Have a demonstrable excellent track record of high ethical standards and professionalism.
11. Between 35-45 years of age at the time of application.
3. Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Perform and control the full audit cycle including risk management and control management
over operations’ effectiveness, financial reliability and compliance with all applicable directives
and regulations.
2. Determine internal audit scope and develop annual plans.
3. Obtain, analyse and evaluate accounting documentation, previous reports, data, etc.
4. Prepare and present reports that reflect the audit’s results and document the process.
5. Act as an objective source of independent advice to ensure validity, legality and goal
achievement.
6. Identify loopholes and recommend risk aversion measures and cost savings.
7. Maintain open communication with Management and the Audit Committee.
8. Document process and prepare audit findings memorandum.
9. Conduct follow up audits to monitor Management’s interventions.
10. Engage in continuous knowledge development regarding Ndejje University’s rules, regulations,
best practices, tools, techniques and performance standards.
11. Perform any other duties that may be assigned to you by your immediate supervisor.
