JOB DETAILS:
The Austrian Development Agency (ADA) is the Operational Unit of the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC). It is in charge of implementing bilateral programmes and projects in ADC's partner countries and administers the budget earmarked for this.

The Coordination Office (CO) of the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) in Kampala, Uganda is recruiting a local graduate trainee (governance). This traineeship is remunerated and designed to be both educational and practical. In this position, the trainee will use skills acquired at university and use them to gain a better understanding of the work in an international development setting to advance her/ his career.

Position: Locally Employed Trainee (Governance)
Working hours: 40 hours/week
Tentative starting date: 15 December 2023
Expected duration: Temporary contract for 12 months (non-renewable)
Location: Kampala, Uganda

Duties & Responsibilities
The trainee will primarily be supporting the governance portfolio and will work under the overall supervision of the Head of Office and the direct supervision of the Governance Advisor. He/she will assist in:
• Providing support to the Justice, Law and Order Sector (Access to Justice sub- program) coordination mechanisms
• Planning and implementing as well as monitoring programme activities
• Periodical reporting on the status of the projects
• Coached handling of narrative and financial progress reports
• Contributing to programme evaluations
• Contributing to the implementation of the ADC country strategy in the sector
• Organizing events including meetings and field missions
• Documentation and communication to increase the visibility of ADA's work in Uganda Supporting general country programme tasks and work.

Requirements:
• Holder of a University degree no later than 2 years ago in law, political science OR in development studies/international Relations (with an exposure to governance related subjects).
• Good knowledge in human rights, rule of law and access to justice.
• Highly motivated with strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills Gender and diversity skills
• Ability to work with a diverse group of people, both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to prioritize and perform a variety of programme administration tasks Proficiency in English, including good writing and editing skills
