About African Women in Media (AWiM)  
African Women in the Media is an international non-governmental organization with the aim to positively impact the way media functions in relation to African women. Our members are African women from a diverse range of media backgrounds. Our vision is that one-day African women will have equal access to representation and opportunities in media industries and media content. African Women in the Media (AWiM) aims to contribute to the creation of enabling environments for African women who work in media industries, and to change the way African women are represented in media content. It does this through knowledge production, training and partnerships.   

About the role
As a Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effectiveness, efficiency, and accountability of our programs and projects. Working within our organization, you will be responsible for developing and implementing robust monitoring and evaluation systems, facilitating learning processes, and promoting accountability to stakeholders. You will work closely with the program managers, AWiM staff, and partners to gather data, analyze results, and make evidence-based recommendations for program improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E):
• Develop and implement comprehensive M&E frameworks, systems, and tools for projects and programs.
• Design data collection methodologies, including quantitative and qualitative approaches, to measure program outcomes and impact.
• Conduct regular monitoring of projects to ensure compliance with established standards and procedures.
• Analyze and interpret M&E data to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities for program enhancement.
• Prepare timely and accurate M&E reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Accountability:
• Establish mechanisms for collecting and responding to feedback from beneficiaries and other stakeholders.
• Ensure that accountability standards and principles are integrated into all aspects of program design and implementation.
• Facilitate participatory approaches to decision-making and project design, involving beneficiaries and communities in the process.

Learning:
• Facilitate knowledge-sharing and learning processes within the organization, capturing and disseminating best practices, lessons learned, and innovations.
• Support capacity-building initiatives to strengthen M&E and learning competencies among staff and partners.
• Contribute to the development of case studies, success stories, and other knowledge products to showcase program impact and achievements.

Required Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in International Development, Social Sciences, Statistics, Monitoring and Evaluation, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in monitoring, evaluation, and learning, preferably in the international development sector.
• Strong understanding of M&E principles, methodologies, and best practices.
• Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative data analysis techniques and tools.
• Experience in developing and managing M&E frameworks, indicators, and tools.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.
• Ability to work effectively in multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficiency in relevant software applications, such as MS Excel, SPSS, STATA, or NVivo.
• Fluency in English (additional language proficiency is an asset).
