Job Summary
The Role holder is responsible for offering the best customer Experience by ensuring proper authentication, verification and approval of payment instructions as per the payments process and agreed SLAs. The role involves processing of Clearing instruments such as Telegraphic transfers (TTs), Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS), Cheques processing, Electronic Funds Transfers, Direct debits and Internal transfers.
Job Description
Main accountabilities & approximate time splits %
Operational Management – 60%
• Monitor Payment queues for the different payments systems in place to ensure that SLA is adhered to.
• Perform completeness checks and ensure proper authentication is one on all payments before processing.
• Approve/ Authorise captured work on the different systems as per the assigned Limits.
• Ensure that the proper end of day reconciliations have been done i.e. work received and work processed, return to sender percentages, etc. are monitored and reported on.
• Ensure that there is clear ownership of any issues arising during processing of Payments as well as timely resolution of any errors logged.
• Ensure prompt response to both internal and external customer queries
Controls – 40%
• Guide the inputting team on maintaining a strong control environment.
• Monitor daily reconciliation MI in order to ensure the relevant GLs are within business rules.
• Participate in snap checks as assigned from time to time
• Raise and Update Risk events in a timely manner and follow up on resolution of incidents raised
Risk, Governance and Regulatory
• Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards. Understand and manage risks and risk events (incidents) relevant to the role.”

Experience and Qualifications
• Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university.
• At least 4 years Working experience in a busy payments or back-office operations in a financial institution.
• An eye for accuracy and strong attention to detail with zero transaction error rate.
• Analytical, organized, and capable of working under minimum supervision
Education
Higher Diplomas: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
