JOB DETAILS:
Objective of the position:
• The position holder shall oversee the implementation of the Resilience Curriculum phase 2 pilot programme. He/she will take lead in identifying children with disability to benefit from the programme, assist the identified children to fil intake, consent and ascent forms and other documentation as required by the donor (Hope and Healing International) based on specified criteria. He/she shall report and work closely with PMO Team Leader to Monitor programme activities for better results.
Detailed Roles and Responsibilities (Main functions for the job):
• Assist the Program Manager with the creation of program materials (workshop guides, lesson plans, facilitator training, etc.).
• Recruit facilitators for the curriculum.
• Oversee the recruitment of participants for the curriculum and ensure that all families have consented to participation.
• Plan a referral mechanism for children within the program if they require further psychosocial support than what the curriculum can provide.
• Assist in translating essential components of the curriculum from English into Luganda.
• Act as the official link between Hope and Healing and CoRSU, the facilitators, the participants and their families, and the local community.
• Assist in leading the facilitator training.
• Provide support and guidance to facilitators throughout the 9 modules.
• Frequently check-in with facilitators and visit all participating groups at regularly planned intervals to monitor and evaluate the success of each group.
• Visit participating group on the request of the facilitator if they require assistance and step in to lead workshops if a facilitator is unable to.
• Provide Hope and Healing and the Program Manager with relevant information on the program, perhaps through monthly monitoring reports.
• Ensure that all participants have completed the CYRM three times throughout the curriculum (beginning, mid-point, and end).
• Assist with the analysis of the CYRM evaluation
• Develop program reports, including successes, weaknesses, and lessons learned from the programme.
Specific roles and responsibilities
• Draft and submit the project budget and implantation plan
• Assist the Program Manager with developing of program materials (workshop guides, lesson plans, facilitator training, etc.)
• Plan and implement project kick-off meetings with stakeholders
• Purchase and distribute program materials (workbooks, pencils, balls, etc.) to each group prior to the first workshop.
• Translate essential components of the curriculum from English into Luganda.
• Frequently check-in with facilitators and visit all participating groups at regularly planned intervals to monitor and evaluate the success of each group.
• Write monthly/quarterly programme/monitoring reports for submission to Hope and Healing International.
• Frequent visit training venues/cohorts to monitor whether all participants have completed the Child and Youth Resilience Measure (CYRM) three times throughout the curriculum (beginning, mid-point, and end).
• Assist with the analysis of the CYRM evaluation.
• Oversee the recruitment of participants for the curriculum and ensure that all families have consented to participation.
• Oversee the recruitment of facilitators for the curriculum.
• Take lead in the training of facilitators.
• Provide support and guidance to facilitators throughout the 9 modules.
• Step in to lead workshops if a facilitator is unable to.
Qualification, Skills and Experience
• University degree in a relevant field, preferably Social Work and Social Administration
• Qualification in Counselling is essential.
• Grants writing/project proposal writing is an added advantage.
• At least 1-2 years’ experience in developing the Resilience of children with disability.
• Excellent communication, presentation and social skills.
• Good understanding of Disability Inclusive Development and Safeguarding.
• Knowledge of local languages (Luganda)
• Good computer knowledge and skills.
• Knowledge of English and at least two Ugandan local languages.
• Analytical and organizational skills.
• Needs to be flexible and creative person.
• Excellent writing, communication, presentation, reporting and social skills.
• Experience in working in the NGO/Not-for-Profit sector.
• Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail and able to work under tight deadlines.
