Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- Vocational training or certification in Plumbing or Pipefitting, or a related field
- Understanding of plumbing systems, materials, and tools.
- At least 5 years of experience in the same role.
- Strong understanding of plumbing systems, materials, and tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and building codes.
- Good physical condition and manual dexterity.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of health and safety procedures.
Responsibilities
- Installation and Maintenance
- Install and maintain plumbing systems including pipes, valves, drainage systems, toilets, sinks, water heaters, and other fixtures.
- Ensure proper functioning of water supply and waste disposal systems.
- Repairs and Troubleshooting
- Diagnose plumbing issues and carry out timely repairs to minimize disruption.
- Unclog drains, fix leaks, and replace worn-out or damaged parts.
- Preventive Maintenance
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance to identify potential issues and avoid major breakdowns.
- Keep records of maintenance and repairs performed.
- Compliance and Safety
- Ensure all plumbing work complies with building codes, health and safety standards, and environmental regulations.
- Follow organizational safety procedures, including use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of materials used, repairs made, and hours worked.
- Report major issues or safety concerns to the supervisor.
- Collaboration
- Work closely with other maintenance staff, electricians, and contractors on repair or construction projects.
- Provide input on plumbing needs during renovations or new construction.
