We are seeking a proactive East Africa Accountant to oversee financial operations across Uganda and neighboring countries. This role is critical to ensuring the success of FREO2’s UNICEF-funded O2aaS program, which provides uninterrupted oxygen to 35 healthcare facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management: Oversee expenses, invoicing, reconciliations, payroll, and cash floats using Xero.
  • Planning & Budgeting: Collaborate with the Global Finance Manager to prepare budgets and monitor expenditures.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Ensure adherence to accounting standards and timely submissions to tax authorities and auditors.
  • Stakeholder Support: Communicate with in-country teams, donors, and partners to manage receivables and provide financial guidance.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive efficiency in financial systems and support FREO2’s strategic goals.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience, preferably with NGOs or donor-funded programs.
  • Proficiency in Xero and expertise in payroll, procurement, and reconciliations.
  • Knowledge of East African tax regulations and financial reporting.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently or in a remote, international team.
  • Bonus: Experience with donor-funded projects.
