About Bugweri District Local Government:
Bugweri District Local Government is a local government administrative unit in Uganda responsible for delivering services and implementing policies at the district level. This includes managing natural resources, infrastructure, education, health, and other essential services for the residents of Bugweri District.
Specific Responsibilities and Qualifications for the District Natural Resource Officer:
District Natural Resource Officer (U1E Sc):
- Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor district natural resource management plans and strategies.
- Conduct environmental impact assessments and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Promote sustainable natural resource utilization and conservation practices.
- Manage forestry, wetlands, and other natural resources within the district.
- Collaborate with local communities, NGOs, and government agencies on natural resource management initiatives.
- Conduct training and awareness programs on environmental conservation and sustainable resource use.
- Prepare and submit reports on the status of natural resources in the district.
- Enforce environmental laws and regulations.
- Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Forestry, or a related field.
- Master's degree in a relevant field is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in natural resource management.
- Strong knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and policies.
- Experience in conducting environmental impact assessments and developing management plans.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in using GIS and other relevant software applications.
Additional Considerations:
- Knowledge of local environmental issues and challenges in Bugweri District.
- Experience in working with local communities on natural resource management projects.
- Ability to mobilize resources and build partnerships for environmental initiatives.

- Applications are hereby invited from suitable qualified Ugandans to fill vacant posts which exist in Bugweri District Local Government. Applications should be submitted in triplicate on Public Service Commission Form No. 3 (2008) to the Secretary Bugweri District Service Commission, P.O Box 511, Iganga to be received not later than Four weeks from the date of publication of this advert.
