JOB DETAILS:
Numida is a rapidly growing digital finance institution in East Africa focused on serving micro-and small businesses (MSBs). Thanks to our proprietary technology and credit processes, we provide growth and working capital to verified MSBs, resulting in high portfolio yields and a high impact on our borrowers’ livelihoods.

Through the Numida mobile app, small business owners can apply for convenient and unsecured short-term business loans by digitally submitting evidence of business ownership and business activity. A proprietary due diligence process, combining machine validation and human review, allows a first lending decision to be made in less than 24 hours. The principal is disbursed digitally via mobile money. Our borrowers then begin reporting their daily financials (sales, expenses, stock purchases) while paying off their loan and tracking their next loan limit. Most subsequent loans are disbursed automatically.

The Role:
We are looking for a self-driven and results-oriented Sales and marketing intern who will help Numida in converting potential clients into successful loan applicants. This position will report to Numida's marketing team lead. This role is reserved for someone who is highly energetic, self-motivated, able to work independently, and willing to go the extra mile to achieve their targets.

Your Responsibilities:
• Meet with 25+ business owners on a daily basis; make them aware about Numida’s offerings
• Meet individual and your team’s sales targets
• Create a systematic plan to help you achieve daily targets
• Help potential customers download the app and walk them through the application process, if they request for support
• Develop calling lists for potential customers who are not willing to borrow immediately but might be interested in the future
• Be the ears of Numida in the field; report back any relevant findings to your supervisor and, in critical cases, to the broader Numida team

Skills & Qualifications:
• BS/BA degree in Sales and Marketing, any business course or relevant field. Diploma + Prior field sales experience is acceptable.
• 0 - 1 Years, prior experience in a sales or marketing role is preferred, but not compulsory
• Proficient in computer and mobile technology – you are experienced with Android apps and desktop productivity software like Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Docs, etc.
• Verbal and written fluency in English and Luganda, any other local language is an added advantage
• Ability to provide customer support using professional and clear language
• Knowledge about and practical experience with the principles of great customer care, and superb etiquette
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent interpersonal skills and high levels of empathy – you are patient enough to truly listen to and understand the needs and wants of Numida’s users, and can address their questions or concerns

Your Compensation and Reward:
This is a contract role in an early stage African fintech start-up for a period of 3 months. Based on performance, you may receive a full-time job offer at the discretion of your manager.

You will receive a competitive salary and benefits commensurate with experience, and have the opportunity to work with a dynamic and diverse team based in Kampala, Nairobi, and multiple locations in North America and Asia.
